Still doesn't excuse the BBC not editing out the N word especially as they were quick to edit out 'free Palestine'. Black people have every right to feel offended just as people should understand thst this doesn't automatically make someone racist. The BBC are at fault.

The man once yelled at the Queen! I can only imagine his embarrassment at involuntarily doing that! Honestly, he gets a full pass from me, regardless of what he might holler at me if we ever met. Give him a break; he must be feeling mortified!!

@EdinburghMayhem Brilliant and thank you. When the guy met the Queen to collect his MBE ‘F*ck the Queen’ came out. She knew about his Tourette’s and just rolled with it. (And BHM in the UK is October.)

It must be exhausting, mortifying & frustrating dealing with tics. The people complaining need to grow the fuck up & demonstrate real compassion instead of politically correct fake compassion.

The thing that scares some people most about Tourette's is the fact the condition is a total repudiation of the concept of FREE WILL. Loss of control terrifies us.

Finally some wisdom on this issue

I don't understand how a person can know defamatory words and when to use them and call it Tourettes. How do they come to know these words, if they haven't been taught them. So is the Tourettes part,when they shout these words out aloud? Am I making sense?

I recommend reading Oliver Sacks. A neurologist who is great at explaining neurological conditions in layman's terms. He covers Touretts brilliantly.

Yeah. People can't help being offended, be it racism, or anything else anyone doesn't want to hear about themselves or someone else. Being offended is a natural human response. And the only 'cure' to that response in the case of tourette's, is understanding and empathy.

BBC deciding not to mute the incredibly racist word causing some ignoramuses to say doing so would be silencing someone with Tourette’s when coprolalia is something they have no control over and does not represent their true opinions and would not want offence amplified is key
