Please play DMC1. Dante is in a poor mental state after DMC3 which lasts until DMC4 when he meets Nero. The writing is excellent and shows a more reserved/introspective and mature Dante. Ya'll just want wacky whoohoo pizza man and fights.

Exactly. Like don’t get me wrong more fights would’ve been great, but if I have to choose between good fights and good writing I’m picking good writing, and this anime SLAPS in characterization and dialogue

DMC was never some deep philosophical piece with an emotional MC, only DMC where Dante tried to be serious like that is 2 and anime and everyone hated those so lets not act like theres any reasons for DMC being popular other than cool fights and Dante doing funny shit

It's like the people who think Kratos from God of war was never complex character and the story was nothing until the new games.

You should rewatch with the dub sometime! It's really good with all the iconic VA's. They do such a good job
