Please please please while out and about, if you see a sheep like this, roll her over. You will save her life… We call this kessed in Cumbria, but it has lots of names. Fact is, if she’s on her back, she shouldn’t be. Thanks and please share…

Like I've just done with this one next door to where I'm ploughing.

I feel an @aardman awareness campaign featuring @shaunthesheep is in order. Maybe Shirley.

You need to make the point that sheep can’t right themselves when they are down. They need someone to do it for them i.e. to roll them back on to their feet.

It is a good idea to try to hold her for a few seconds till she gets her bearings before letting go. Have done this many times when I have been able to reach them in the field or if not, gone to find the farmer

@cernusson Yes, heard it as rigwelted from my Yorkshire mother. Told to always put them right way up, and alert the farmer.

@B_W_Marshall A friend of mine commuted through Wiltshire sheep country and her drive was always endlessly prolonged by turning sheep the right way up!

@HeldinEU

@mrEmTee I keep an eye on my neighbours sheep for this especially in spring when they had a very heavy fleece. So far have had to get 2 up in the last 5 years

We saw literally hundreds of sheep like this when we took the train from Manchester to London. (Maybe because we were so stoked to see sheep again after being away for so long). Is it to do with lambing season? Can someone educate my poor wee brain?

Good idea to hold them steady for a few seconds to get them reorientated. Over this side of Cumbria its cast
