At a moment meant for humility and reflection, Trump chose insults, mockery, and open contempt, not only toward Democrats, but toward anyone who didn’t fall in line. What was most troubling was the reaction. Laughter. Applause. Silence where conscience should have spoken. We are judged not only by what we say, but by how we respond when others demean, divide, and disrespect the values they claim to represent. When cruelty is met with cheers, it reveals a deeper moral failure.
