Mainoo is more of a ball carrier. He lacks the vision for a forward pass but has the vision to spot where there's space and would rather penetrate the space through ball carrying. Elliot is a Matic type of player who can pass the ball through the lines whilst setting the tempo. Both are good qualities in each and can both be used. We don't need to sacrifice one for the other.

Pretty simple. Ask how many Forest fans would do a straight swap. Think you’ll find the answers big fat zero. Love Mainoo but Anderson is a generational talent. Arguably the best player I’ve ever seen play for Forest and we’ve had some greats over the years.

He's more progressive with passes not side passes as Mainoo, combative midfielder, has better stamina, wins ball more. Not similar profile. Both of them can excel together in a team albeit not this system.

They are different profiles, mainoo does not play with high intensity, Anderson does, he’s a dynamic and transitional midfielder, not saying Anderson is better but he does everything better that is needed for the system to work. We are largely reliant on quick transitions atm.
