DCA is the way

most investors are not disciplined enough to trim some and then DCA if in the short term has a big increase in stock price. with your strategy, you should trim more if stock shoots up. I think it's better to mitigate risk by selling CC and sell puts. use the premiums to add more shares.

Thoughts on covered calls instead of partially selling? Worst case, stock goes up beyond your strike price and triggers you to sell anyways, while you collect a premium
