PM Carney admits Canada has just 2,000 military drones, and needs millions more. Yet as Ottawa scrambles to arm Canada's own forces, Carney is pledging one-third of all drones manufactured to Ukraine. Is Carney's Ukraine pledge coming at the expense of "Canada Strong"?

Aren’t you supposed to be news? Why do you think we would pledge drones to Ukraine? That’s called a deal. We get their expertise and their technology and the ability to build it here, and we support a good cause. Russia is a bad place, but some of you probably get paid in rubles

Everyone is so pissed about Ukraines funding... but they are still standing... more than 4.5 years later... Its not perfect.. but they are gathering real world battle intelligence which has insane value for our armed forced to utilize for future drone procurement & development

Canada's military is still trying to open tampon packages in the men's room.

I love the carefully crafted military staging in the background. Didn't realize there is a war in Calgary at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel where they met.

Nothing screams incompetence like the leader of a country making his own country's defence weaker while making another's stronger.

Yes, unless you're stupid. Who do you think is the world leader in military drone tech and production? Ukraine. This is an invaluable partnership for Canada.

There is no Canada Strong . There is only Carney strong . Undoubtedly Carney will profit handsomely supplying drones to Ukraine .

What is this madness? We should be asking the Ukraine for drones that we paid for.

Biden's Sec Def said the purpose of the war was to "weaken Russia." Carney obviously agrees with this and is part of the western oligarchy. Talk is cheap. There's no Canadian soldiers dying. We need peace, not war. Jeff Sachs on roots of Ukraine war.

As of September 10, 2026, Canada has committed more than C$25.5 billion in assistance to Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022

If drones aren't useful in Ukraine, they aren't useful. Seems like a sound way to get continuous feedback on what works and what doesn't so that can feed back into the design. Maybe we'd have more drones on shelves if we didn't have a deal with Ukraine but a million combat ineffective drones is the same as zero drones.
