If you look at it coldly, you can see the game plan. It's pretty obvious. If we sell something 1$ to the USA, and they put a 25% tariff on it, it will cost them 1.25$. But, if you put a 25% tariff on everything, and as a result our economy and currency collapse, let's say from .71 to .50 CAD/USD, the 1.25$ good will then cost them .89$, it will be cheaper for them, and will still hurt us pretty badly asv imported inflation will go through the roof. Then, we'll fix our border, Trump will remove the tariffs, and as our economy will take 20 years to recover they will have super cheap goods for decades.
