In the beginning the Congress was a freedom movement not a political party. The whole India was part of the Congress organization. some movements results in formation of a political party like the AAP. Gandhiji wanted to dissolve the Congress organization as the very purpose for which it was set up had been achieved. However it continued to exist as a political party under Nehru and post-freedom and ruled the country for larger years. So be very clear that, the Congress party has not given freedom to this country.
