It is very important to open the first negotiating cluster for Ukraine and Moldova with the support of all 27 votes. We also spoke about the SAFE program and the possibility of using the funds to produce interceptor drones. I thank Poland for its readiness to implement this. We agreed to work through all the issues at the team level.

Polish PM Tusk: We will consistently argue for continued support for Ukraine in its war with Russia. But I appeal to the entire Polish delegation to be cautious about making any declarations of further financial support from Poland. Not because I believe Ukraine does not need financial support. I believe Poland has enormous responsibilities in protecting the entire eastern border of the European Union, and everyone must take that into account. Ukraine is fighting the war, but Poland, in peacetime, bears the main burden of protecting our border—which is also Europe's border against threats from the east.

We are preparing to strengthen several areas of our diplomatic work in Europe and beyond. Ukraine’s interests must be represented both at the official level and in engagement with communities in those countries that are not yet free or remain under Russian influence. There will be personnel changes within the diplomatic corps. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also preparing candidates for the position of Special Representative on Belarus and the Belarusian community in Europe. A more active policy is needed.

Mykhailo Tkach, a journalist of Ukrainska Pravda media, went to the Polish border and conducted an investigation to find out the scale of trade turnover between Poland and Belarus. It turned out that while Ukrainian agricultural products are blocked at the border, Poland pays hundreds of millions to companies from Russia and Belarus for seeds, oil and animal feed. ▪️ Poland trades with Russia and Belarus, while Ukraine is banned even from transit. Ukrainian agricultural exports to Poland fell by 40% last year. In August, amid protests, Poland banned imports of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds from Ukraine, and in September, it added rapeseed cake and meal, corn bran, wheat flour and derivatives. Since April 2023, Ukrainian grain has been going through Poland only in transit. Despite this, protests at the border continue. There are about 6 thousand cars in line to leave Ukraine for Poland, and another 2 thousand to enter Poland Imports of agricultural products from Russia to Poland in 2023 reached $117 and exceeded the level of 2021, i.e. the level before the full-scale war. Poland purchased $55 million from Lukashenko, which also exceeds the profits of previous years. ▪️ "Disservice" to ourselves Poland not only continues to trade with the aggressor state and its satellite, but also increases imports of agricultural products. The situation already shows that the Poles have done a "disservice" to themselves, because Polish grain has been displaced by Russian grain on foreign markets. Russia, in turn, has increased its exports by stealing Ukrainian grain, among other things. ▪️ Playing on dislike of Ukrainians Some Polish pro-Russian politicians purposefully make Ukrainians public enemies. We held a friendly discussion with Donald Tusk, the Prime Minister of Poland, in Munich. We agreed that both Hungary and Poland must do everything possible to help achieve a Russian–Ukrainian peace agreement as soon as possible. We agreed that, immediately following the change of government, we will rebuild political, economic, and cultural relations between Hungary and Poland, and give new momentum to cooperation among the Visegrád Four countries. We also agreed that the protection of Europe’s external borders must be further strengthened. Both of us support improving Europe’s competitiveness and strengthening transatlantic relations. Following the elimination of corruption in our country, Poland will support the release of 8,000 billion forints in EU funds to which Hungary is entitled. I emphasized to the Polish Prime Minister that neither the TISZA party nor the majority of Hungarians supports Ukraine's accelerated EU accession. At the end of the meeting, I invited Donald Tusk to Budapest for the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Revolution, and we agreed that my first foreign trip after the swearing-in of the TISZA government will be to Warsaw. Long live the thousand-year-old Polish–Hungarian friendship!
