Police confirmed that an off-duty officer and a Good Samaritan confronted a gunman after he opened fire at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday. Three people were killed and another seven were injured, officials said.

Multiple People Killed in Shooting at Twin Falls In-N-Out Burger, Suspect Dead Twin Falls, Idaho - on August 1, 2026, a shooting at the In-N-Out Burger at 1965 Blue Lakes Boulevard North in Twin Falls, Idaho, left multiple people dead and others injured, according to the Twin Falls Police Department. Twin Falls police issued a public safety alert at approximately 2:23 p.m. after reports of an active shooter. Around 2:29 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired at the recently opened restaurant in a busy shopping center. Responding agencies included the Twin Falls Police Department, Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office, Idaho State Police, and the FBI. During an evening news conference, Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said the shooting resulted in multiple fatalities and that several victims were transported to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center. While a city spokesperson reported that at least three people were killed and two others were injured, Hicks said investigators were still working to confirm the exact number of victims pending notifications to next of kin and coordination with the hospital and the county coroner. The suspected male shooter was found dead near the scene. Authorities have not released the cause of his death, his identity, or a possible motive. Hicks said there was no ongoing threat to the community. Lane Koehn, 34, told the Associated Press he was stopped at a nearby traffic light when he saw a man carrying an AR-style rifle emerge near the drive-thru. Koehn said another man armed with a handgun returned fire. He, the armed civilian, and an In-NOut employee remained with an injured restaurant worker until paramedics arrived. In-N-Out Burger Chief Operating Officer Denny Warnick said the company is cooperating with law enforcement.
