A tanker loaded with diesel fell on top of Liverpool Bridge inward Mile 2. The tanker sustained damage, leading to the spillage of diesel across the bridge and on the road beneath. Emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other relevant agencies, are already on ground and have successfully contained the situation to prevent escalation. We urge members of the public to exercise restraint, caution, and civic responsibility. We visited the scene of the explosion which occurred at about 7.44 pm yesterday, 16 January 2024 in Bodija, Ibadan. This unfortunate incident resulted in death and injury to residents in the vicinity and also affected properties. We have already deployed first responders and all relevant agencies within Oyo State to carry out comprehensive search and rescue operations. These operations will continue throughout the night. Earth moving equipment, ambulances, emergency lights, and security were deployed to the scene of the incident. The wounded and injured are being treated and moved to public and private hospitals within Ibadan. Medical personnel are on standby at these hospitals to provide all needed assistance to the injured. We have visited UCH to see some of those injured during the incident. In total, we have 77 injured victims so far, most of whom were treated and discharged and 2 fatalities. May their souls rest in peace and may God give their loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. I have directed that the medical bills of all victims be covered by the government. We will also be providing temporary accommodation for those whose houses were affected and ensuring that they are supported to rebuild their lives. Preliminary investigations by the security agencies revealed that illegal miners occupying one of the houses in Bodija had stored explosive devices there which caused the blast. The investigations are ongoing. All those found culpable for this will be brought to book. I urge all residents to please call 615 for any emergencies they may be experiencing at this time and to remain calm and stay away from the immediate scene of the incident to allow rescue operations to be carried out without interference. We are grateful to the first responders, security personnel and all those who are at the scene to assist with the rescue operations as well as the medical personnel taking care of the injured. Please say a prayer for those who have been affected by this disaster as we continue with the rescue operations.

Deeply pained and saddened by the tragic loss of lives due to the collapse of an under-construction warehouse building near Brace Bridge in Taratala, where several workers got trapped beneath the debris. So far 21 people have been pulled out of the collapsed structure, out of which 18 are injured and 3 people have lost their lives. Words fail to express my sorrow for the precious lives lost in this tragedy. My deepest condolences go out to their bereaved families. The State Government stands firmly with them in this hour of unimaginable grief and we will extend all possible support to them. Rescue and relief operations are currently being carried out on a war footing. The Army, NDRF, SDRF, Kolkata Police and KMC are jointly conducting the rescue operations to ensure every trapped worker is brought to safety as quickly as possible. I pray for the quick recovery of those who got injured. I have instructed the UDMA Department to closely coordinate the entire operation. MoS Dr. Indranil Khan is already present at the site and is personally supervising the ongoing rescue efforts. Relief and rescue operations are continuing in close coordination with the NDRF, SDRF, civil administration and other agencies to assist the affected population. The Army has deployed seven Relief and Rescue Columns, including Engineer and Medical teams, across the affected areas. At present, two columns are deployed in Navsari, one in the Valsad–Vapi region, three in Ahmedabad, covering Ahmedabad Town, Ahmedabad Rural and the Ahmedabad–Rajkot Highway, and one column is operating in Silvassa in the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli. In addition, addl Relief and Rescue Columns remain on standby at key locations, including Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Jamnagar to facilitate immediate response to any emerging contingency. Since the commencement of operations, Army teams have undertaken continuous rescue and relief missions in inundated and inaccessible areas, safely evacuating 355 stranded civilians so far. Rescue operations have often been carried out under challenging conditions, including the evacuation of civilians trapped for prolonged durations in flooded buildings and isolated habitations. Since the commencement of operations, Army teams have undertaken continuous rescue and relief missions in inundated and inaccessible areas, safely evacuating 355 stranded civilians so far. Rescue operations have often been carried out under challenging conditions, including the evacuation of civilians trapped for prolonged durations in flooded buildings and isolated habitations. Medical teams have provided immediate healthcare to those requiring assistance, while relief teams have distributed food, drinking water and other essential supplies to affected residents awaiting evacuation or restoration of normal connectivity.
