The 34 felonies are all one count, split up into 34 because Cohen was paid back over time- every time a check was written, FELONY, check was written into the ledger, FELONY, etc. Best of all Trump wasn't informed of the 'underlying crimes' until closing arguments, so he never received due process. Oh and the only witnesses, Daniels and Cohen, said on the stand that this did and didn't happen, and Trump did and didn't know any of this was even happening.

Yup. The trial of DJT summarized: One act—a bookkeeping error, a misdemeanor and beyond the statute of limitations—multiplied by 34 and turned into a felony.

You are more or less right. When a President can't get re-elected on his own merit, this is what happens.

Here is more: @PatriciaHeaton Hillary Clinton did the same thing by labeling the Russian Dissier she concocted as a legal offense. The FEC FINES HER CAMPAIGN. NY & Bragg changes the law so that this paper filing could be charged because it passed the statute of limitations. Also the US federal govt passed in charging Trump & campaign with an FEC violation and so did NY for years til Trump was winning primary. Also the judge refused to let the FEC chairman testify as this was not a crime of federal election law.
