It isnt just about her being his mother. Anime/manga in general has a loooooot of "gags" where a female character beats a male one. It is comedic aspect and in general shouldnt be taken seriously. Though its something that is getting old as rarely it is actual funny

I actually find that gag funny most of the time. I think its probably the fact that since its a mom doing it and the kid didn't do anything wrong...its just not that funny and just comes off as more annoying tbh. Although I know it's just a gag dw, this time I just didn't like it
