This is how bad and pathetic the water situation in Zimbabwe’s capital city, Harare, has become. A borehole is being drilled on Kaguvi Street, outside HT Tyres. This is what corruption does to a country, central government controls everything in councils, resulting in this collapse. In cities like Harare, the need for boreholes reflects how corruption and central government interference have crippled local authorities, stripping them of the capacity to provide basic services. Boreholes in central business districts indicate that the municipal water supply system has failed. In a functioning city, clean and reliable piped water should be standard, particularly in central areas. Most of Harare, including the most affluent areas, does not receive piped water at all. The Water Act clearly states that Central Government (ZANUPF Government) should build dams! This has not been done due to rampant historic corruption. Harare and its dormitory towns rely on Lake Chivero, which was constructed by the colonial government in 1952 to provide clean drinking water for Harare and its surrounding areas, with a total population of 300,000 people. Today, it serves the Harare metropolitan area and satellite towns such as Chitungwiza, Epworth, Norton, and Ruwa with a total population of around 4.5 million people. The same lake that provides drinking water also receives untreated sewage. Residents have resorted to boreholes, sadly, something the last colonial ruler Ian Smith predicted would happen. How tragic that predictions once dismissed as racist have now come to pass.

Building Funds for a School in Chitral: Hello twitter fam, I am raising funds for a school in Yarkhoon Chitral. Because of the abscence of rooms, the school runs two shifts which means that students walking from far away villages get home at night. They have to walk at least 2 hours one side in very unsafe situations similar to the one shown in the video. This is totally unjust to these students and we must make their lives easy. The total cost for the land is 50 lac and the community has pledged to raise half of the amount and we (you all) will contribute the other half. So we are looking for raising 25 lac/ 9000£/11000$. Ok, so the new Midjourney Style Tuner is here and it's a MASSIVE update. There is so much to unpack, no way I can do it all in one post, but here is an overview. You start by typing in /tune followed by your prompt. MJ will generate a range of sample images (between 16-128) showing different visual styles based on your prompt. Then you choose your favorite images from the sample to generate a unique code you can use to customize the look of future jobs. (link below) So for example, I just tried it with the prompt: 💬 1990s, a photo of a woman dressed in fuzzy velour, shimmering midnight hues reflecting sadness by the lake, a contemporary nightmare on cross-processed film --ar 4:5 --c 4 I selected 10 images, which generated the code zlPhgLCHDXol64kPlwSUzu97. Day 3 of the major snowstorm at Donner Summit. Periods of heavy snow continue, albeit less intense than yesterday. Cars are completely buried, and a rapid dig-out has begun before another 2–3 feet of snow falls tomorrow. Expect the highway to close again, so I’ve ended my snow chase and driven back down into the Central Valley. Yesterday’s conditions were the fiercest winter storm conditions I have ever covered or been a part of. We left the summit around 12:30 pm, as blizzard conditions persisted for hours. It was a complete whiteout, with no visibility beyond a couple hundred feet at any point. Even my chasing partner Michael’s car with 4WD, snow-studded tires and high clearance was absolutely no match for the storm. Visibility reached truly zero at times, and peak snow rates reached 4–5 inches per hour. Even though winds were lighter than in other I-80 blizzards, the extremely low-density snow made it incredibly easy to blow around. I chased the 10-foot blizzard during Leap Day 2024, several major storms during the winter of 2023, and experienced epic months like February 2019, December 2021, and January 2017, but the peak intensity of this storm puts it above the storm conditions I experienced during these events. Prayers go out to the victims and families of those who perished in yesterday’s avalanche near Frog Lake. A terrible tragedy.

Geneva Conventions specifically prohibit the use of razor wire to restrict areas that civilians are servicing, hospitals, water points, food. distribution points, and we're using it. Not only did the IDF provide it for us to use it on the sites, we UG Solutions, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, asked for it specifically. Razor wire is designed to maim and kill. And we're using that to channelize and and herd, if you will, thousands of unarmed, starving civilians. That's a war crime. The actions on the sites, escalation of force, no standard operating procedures to dictate that. No rules of engagement provided to the armed contractors on the ground. the indiscriminate use of force, lethal and non-lethal, against unarmed civilians. I want to make that clear. We aren't there on the distribution sites defending ourselves against Hamas. We are using indiscriminate force, targeting civilians, escalation of force that goes far beyond the measures of appropriate against an unarmed, starving population. The equipment, the equipment that we were issued, fully automatic weapons, which in and of itself is not a violation of protocol. However, we were issued M855 green tipped ammunition. That's important because green tipped ammunition is a steel jacketed copper round that's designed to specifically designed to penetrate armor. It's designed to kill.
