Hinkley was asked if he would step away from the club if it fell out of contention, as a recent report from Morris claimed on Channel 9's Footy Classified. Hinkley denied the suggestion when asked about it, continuing on to say "a lot of things get reported that are actually infacutal [unfactual]. That's one of them". The Port Adelaide coach confirmed his commitment was to coach for the rest of this season, before handing over the reigns to assistant coach Josh Carr.
