The Labour NEC must make its view clear now and end the uncertainty. If a leadership contest is triggered, the Labour Party cannot exclude the most popular politician of any political party in the U.K. Andy Burnham also has significant executive experience as a former cabinet minister and successful Metro Mayor. The NEC and PM must be explicit that in the event of a contest Andy Burnham will not be blocked should he stand. This should be decided and communicated now. See my interview from Channel 4 below:

We are verifying the details, and every remaining scheme Russia still uses must be blocked. The world has to read the room correctly: Russia must end its war. Otherwise, Russia’s oil exports must end. I thank all our partners who are exerting pressure in this way – effectively, tangibly, and targeting the areas that are truly painful for Putin’s system.
