Just a LOW Baseball IQ pitch to Lee — why throw him something he can pull for a 3 run HR?? Avoid the pitches that can result in 3 run HR.. that would be anything off speed that could end up on the inner half of the plate.. Just NOT smart. Hard stuff away will NOT result in a HR there. Lee’s 1st HR showed his swing path on anything with a wrinkle, he’s selling out and looking to lift. Just ridiculous, beat him with fastballs away and away at the top of the zone. Can’t lift that pitch. — why try to execute a pitch that has the greatest probability of being hit for a home run if it misses its spot?? Just doesn’t make sense. Situations should dictate pitch selection more so than a scouting report or analytics breakdown of what Lee hits well and doesn’t hit well. Lee plays the majority of his games in SF, he’s likely NOT taking the same swing approach that he does in SF that he used in Yankee Stadium this weekend. From Friday on, Lee was selling out on anything off speed and looking to lift pitches, he doesn’t hit with that same approach in bigger ballparks. Again, NOT recognizing what is happening on the field in front of you and adjusting. — Situations matter, as well as recognizing adjusts happening in realtime, and should hold more urgency than analytic driven scouting reports. — Reminds me of similar game several years ago when Chad Green tried to throw a back leg curveball to Michael Brantley and gave up a 2 or 3 run HR to lose that game. Why throw a pitch that if not executed perfectly creates the highest probability of a getting beat? Just makes no sense. — Can’t be a F’N robot to a scouting report to the point where the game situation is not prioritized.
