29 minutes .. 29 minutes separated the collapse of the south and north tower. After surviving the collapse of wtc2, Battalion Chief Joseph Pfiefer, cameraman Jules Naudet (who happened to be filming a documentary on nyfd and captured some of the only footage of the north tower being hit), and the remaining crews set up command on West and Vessey, which was extremely close to the still standing north tower. Moments later, as the last few men and women escaped onto vessey street, the north tower gave way.

FDNY Battalion Chief Orio Palmer was a hero who died rescuing injured people from the South Tower on 9/11. A true hero. He led the team into the South Tower after the 2nd plane hit, repaired the radio receiver making communication so difficult and then managed to reach the impact zone. The impact zone where Flight 175 had hit. Orio Palmer got there and was leading the injured out of the tower when it collapsed, killing them all. If they'd had another 1/2 hour-1 hour they'd have at least gotten the group of 10 civilians Palmer was aiding out. I made a comment earlier that to me, the new Jules Naudet high-definition footage from 9/11 shows Bill Biggart in some of the final moments of his life. Several people have asked me for follow ups and what exactly I meant, so I wanted to break this down further. For context, and as you’ll see in this footage, Battalion Chief Joseph Pfeifer, his crew, and Jules Naudet (French documentary maker) just survived the collapse of the South Tower by escaping through the command post in the North Tower, over the pedestrian bridge crossing the west side highway, and into the world financial center. After emerging from the world financial center, they take a look at the Marriott hotel that is now sliced in half, and begin putting the pieces of the puzzle together - the South Tower fell - they somehow survived. A new command post is now set up on West and Vesey street to the northwest corner of the north tower, beside the Verizon building. As they walk to the new command post; they pass an NYPD response truck, and a gentleman - dressed in all light colors, is collecting himself, dusting himself off, and seeking refuge from the south tower collapse that he just survived. Go to 2:32 mark in the video where this begins. The high definition video shows a clear visual of a man, who to me is Bill Biggart, who was known to be in this area given the last photos of his life that was collected from his camera that was found in the rubble. It appears he has a strap (camera ?) with him, some black piece of clothing near his face (a hoody?), and matches the general clothing and stature of Bill Biggart. Now I’m not sure if this has already been a circulated theory. I haven’t seen anything. I’m just passing along my observations and reasonings, but I am happy and eager to learn more on this. Rest in Peace Bill Biggart, and condolences to his family. His last photos provide a rare visual glimpse at the base of the north tower moments before the end.

NYPD helicopters were prepared to rescue people from the rooftops, similar to what they had done in 1993. They found a gap on the north west corner of tower 1, but no one was there. Jules Naudet’s extended raw 9/11 footage is fascinating. You can see the details of 1 persons perspective. Battalion Chief Joseph Pfeifer appears to be one of the first crews to arrive. He tells Jules, “you stay with me”. The lobby windows of wtc1 were already blown out, and immediately upon entering there was a victim who was getting into the elevator when jet fuel ran down the shaft all the way to the lobby. They turn to the left, and set up command post in the north west corner of tower 1, a small decision that most likely saved their lives and allowed them to escape with their lives when wtc2 collapsed.

Tom McGinnis was the last documented phone call to be made from the North Tower of the World Trade Center before it collapsed. He left behind his wife Iliana and daughter Caitlin.

NEW: TMZ alleges there was a fifth plane on 9/11 that was covered up by the FBI. In a new documentary, TMZ interviewed 3 flight attendants and the pilot who were on United Flight 23. After being evacuated from the plane, the pilot says they later found that the hatch on the bottom of the plane had been opened. "The airplane was locked and sealed when I left the airplane, so something else was going on that I couldn't explain." The flight crew said there were four "Arabs" on the plane who demanded that the flight take off when flight attendants tried giving them food. One of the men had requested to see the cockpit before takeoff. The crew says they were interviewed by the FBI, but never heard back, and never found out if the men were questioned or not. "We have requested information about Flight 23 ... we did not get a reply," TMZ said.

Following Evan Fairbanks “discussion” with the FBI regarding his 9/11 footage, you can see him exit the East doors of WTC5, putting him right at the base of the Millennium Hotel. Evacuations are in a heavy flow. First responders are calm and professional. Several onlookers stick around a few more moments until they find themselves up close to the 110 floors of the South tower forcibly and outwardly collapsing.

Seventeen minutes later at 9:03 am, United Airlines Flight 175 struck the South Tower. At 9:37 am in Washington, D.C. American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon. At 10:03 am, United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. 2,977 innocent souls were lost that day. Mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, husbands, wives, friends, and loved ones. 25 years later, we still remember them. We remember the lives, the sacrifice, the courage, and above all, we remember that even on one of America's darkest days, Americans stood together. Our country is strongest when it stands united. Today we remember, and may we never forget.

Chris York’s footage on 9/11 is truly incredible. It’s been recently restored by project Between Two Towers. He’s on the rooftop pool of the Liberty Court tower with his family, 44 stories up. The north tower is struck, he begins filming the entire situation from 500 above the street and 500 feet below the tower strike. But at the 52 second mark, the south tower is struck by flight 175 traveling 550mph. You can feel the blast through this footage. Chris York felt something he hadn’t felt in 40 years, which is when he was on the flight line with B 58’s during his time in the air force in the early 60s. He would feel the thrust, the afterburners, followed by the heat. And that’s exactly what he felt when flight 175 struck the south tower overhead. Truly remarkable footage and vantage point.

He called them his children. He ran the rescue of both towers from a command post on West Street, sending his men up the stairs while thousands came down.
