"Oh you got me brotha" "Listen to the crowd as I pin you, Terry. No one gives a shit"

Sorry. Couldn’t hear the crowd. All I heard was Taker’s knees taking all of the impact from the tombstone…

Hulk was losing his aura even then. The minority wanted a change. I have to say, the commentary of Bobby & Gorilla was superb here.

People don't talk about it anymore because of the legend Undertaker became, but THIS was the most shocking title change I had ever seen.

We can also see why Taker is still salty about the "you got me, brother" to this day.

Fully on board pointing out how fans turned on Hogan in 91, said it myself many times, but I re-watched the Bodyslam Challange on USS intrepid last week & when the chopper arrived, everyone popped big-time for Hulk, turned to disappointed silence when they realised it wasn't him.

Hogan was a pos for letting Taker think he was really hurt

“Oh you got me brother.” - Hulkster

He got him tho brother!!

"You got me Brother!"

@ovppodcast Man I have such a hard time choosing between 91/92 WWF and 98/99 WWF. The star power on the Funeral Parlor segment to hype this match was INSANE. Hogan, Piper, Savage, Flair, Taker, Paul Bearer.

For all the taker marks in the comments, taker held him too tight and hogans head was jammed on his thigh. Crowd popped just as much for the big boot as the pin. Crowd was 50/50

This was great. I was sick of this bald idiot and his stupid act EVERY match

@ovppodcast A lot of people talk about Royal Rumble ‘92 being Heenan’s magnum opus on commentary, but this is up there to me. Especially his back and forth with Monsoon in the aftermath of Undertaker’s victory.

Joe did they do ever do a revised one for coliseum video like they did the 92 rumble ending?

Not that I've ever seen

They were cheering in Texas a few days later when Hulk won it back. Some cities were just different.

What's the more shocking title loss watching as a kid?

👇🏼

And it's Typical Hogan would not put him over clean. It just didn't work for him Brother.

Loved Hogan but by then we'd had enough of him, he was saturating everything and imposing himself on every event and storyline. The crowd also cheered when Sid eliminated him from the Royal Rumble. WWF altered the real crowd reaction to preserve the myth of their golden goose.

I remember watching, I was 12 years old and my two brothers jumped up yelling cause Taker won and hearing the crowd I was like NO! I was crushed this was the end of Hulkamania 😔 RIP Hulkster 🙏

Couldn’t beat zombie taker.

If you didn't live during that time you don't know. Even as a heel, Undertaker's popularity with skyrocketing. Hogan was losing steam at this point. Fan reaction is with ultimately turned Undertaker face versus Jake Roberts. Undertaker was a revelation. Completely unique.

Detroit. Not surprising.

“You got me, brother”

I was 12 and very sick of the hulkster and hulkamania and I can assure you, not just by this crowd, but many many WWF fans shared the same sentiment. This is also a great example of McMahon failing to manipulate crowd reaction. Soon after this I would stop watching until 1997.

Man I get goosebumps hearing Howard Finkel smh RIP

One of my favorite wrestling moments ever. Almost 35 years later, I remember precisely where I was and the emotion I felt when it happened.

Something bad was about to happen when Hogan would fail to go perpendicular for the leg drop.

Clear sign people were tired of good hogan.. he definitely needed a change in character

It meant something to beat hulk hogan

YOU GOT ME BROTHER

I wonder if this was the point they decided 'Taker needed to turn face?

That's a great finish, but it could be seen as devaluing Undertaker's finisher. It implies Hogan may have kicked out otherwise.
