On Sundays, we post churches. This is a 2021 reconstruction of a 1901 cathedral that was blown up in 1932 during Soviet anti‑religious campaigns. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Volgograd, Russia.

A poignant statement, given that Russia hasn’t had real elections in decades. "And we can also grant a ceasefire if they'll do elections in Russia" - Zelensky

I was one of the first private bankers in post-Soviet Russia, and I am no longer sure the money Russians keep in banks today is anything more than digits on a screen. (🧵 Read on for why—and follow for more)

Today is 1417 days since Ukraine’s full-blown invasion began in February 2022. 1417 was the number of days that took Soviet Union to be invaded by Hitler, stop him and defeat. In his hypocrisy, Putin likes these “Great Patriotic War” comparisons. Yet they’re not to his favour. For two reasons. First, Russia is doing against Ukraine what Nazi Germany did against Soviet Union. And second, unlike the Soviet Union, Russia has 100% failed & disgraced itself in this barbaric, hideous, shameless Hitler-style land grab.

The Warsaw Pact dissolved in 1991, but NATO just keeps expanding eastward. Turns out the Soviet threat was never the real issue, surrounding Russia was always the goal.

"Israel has started supplying Ukraine with Soviet and Russian-made weapons captured in Lebanon." - The Telegraph. About 60% of the weapons captured by Israel during the fight against Hezbollah were made in the USSR and Russia. Additionally, as previously reported by an OSINT analyst, Israel is also transferring Soviet weapons captured in Syria to Ukraine.
