The building will float during flood. Don't come for me pls.

They will remove the jerrycans and get this type of result. It's called a waffle slab. It's named after a waffle, because it looks like a waffle. (Waffle is some sort of perforated pancake) I show also image of proper plastic molds for waffle slab. They're just saving cost.

Jerry cans act as void formers in the slab, reducing concrete volume, weight, and cost—same idea as commercial voided slabs.

So the house can easily sail during flooding episodes as witnessed in the recent Abuja flooding.

For formwork. To be removed after the cast is done

This is what they’re trying to achieve , if that job was done in Nigeria the engineer tried considering shortage of materials and some other factors

ALUMINIUM PARAPET — ₦6,400 PER METRE Looking for a clean and durable aluminium parapet for your building? 📌 Price: ₦6,400 per metre 📲 WhatsApp: 08085310359 📞 0810 648 7315

It’s used to reduce dead load on the structure, the Jerry cans will be remove after concrete casting , and if materials like polystyrene is used it might not be remove depend on the Architectural design . This type of slab is called Ribbed or Hollow slab.

This is not right in Lagos sha. Very dangerous

That's an hollow floor The jerrycan purpose is to create the hollow ( empty spaces) in the floor to create a light floor that can span on wider spaces without support unlike the usual solid floors that can only span some little metres without support

They are trying to achieve a waffle slabs, I did a 7floor water front project currently fully occupied with this same principle, the ideal is to use concrete clay ribs ,saves on concrete and reduces dead load , poor job though they would have hired a professional at least.

Is this actually made with AI? I think it’s misleading because many people will start using it

Incase of flood, your fit toll the house go another land

To reduce concrete volume. The person won manage cement 😂

This in its totality is an unsafe act/condition.

The color combination con look like KC luxury consignment wey NDLEA give am stick to count,

There's someone who once asked why do Kenyans and Africans at large love huge and weighty houses? Why not built light houses using foam and strong structures?

So if flood should come, your house will just be moving on water.

The jerry cans act as void former for the ribbed slab.

The jerrycans serves as a formwork/mould which create a hollow at the slab soffit and are removed after casting. This reduces the slab weight and it's used where large slab areas/spans are required with no columns obstruction.

Whatever your opinion is concerning this practice is fine, but trust me non of you would dare try use this for your building.

This is an augmented video. You can clearly see “made with AI” at the footnote.

Egbon nah Ai ooooooo

@grok Please what's the essense of the jerry cans on the decking

This is the method we engineers use so that during rainy season, downstairs can be soaked and floody but upstairs will not, in short if the flood tries to come up, the galons will take the upstairs afloat. This is why you see downstairs for 2m and upstairs 3.5m. don't mention...

They are certainly looking to reduce cement used. Even if they filled the gallons with sand, they have really compromised on the strength of that decking.

@sirfolajomi is this right sir

It’s obvious it was edited with AI

Did y'all see made with AI?

So that the house can float on water during flood

It will reduce the dead weight of the building by cutting down on the amount of concrete that would have been used per cubic meter if it were to used alone. In my site some years ago we used polystyrene (white cork in electronic cartons) and it saved almost 50% of concrete

If this is actually real, I think what they are trying to do is replace Styrofoam with the kegs. It's wrong, very wrong, because kegs are compressible. However, if they succeed with the casting the kegs would be removed after the slab dries off.

Ribbed Floor with Plastic Void Formers: Used to reduce the slab weight, but the formers may float or shift during casting if not properly secured and can be damaged or displaced during reinforcement and construction activities
