Today in Rock History May 11, 2024 Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters played a prank on the audience at Welcome to Rockville. Grohl claimed he never gets the chance to play guitar solos, then launched into a rendition of Van Halen’s “Eruption,” complete with all the hammer-ons and EVH techniques. Just as the crowd got into it, the giant screen revealed Wolfgang Van Halen shredding the song side stage.

He is best known for his time as a co-founding member and rhythm guitarist of Guns N’ Roses.
