My buddy sent me this viral Instagram video of some lady giving her last “testimony” or “talk” from the pulpit. Cursing, mocking, being obnoxious as hell, and selfish. LDS or not, you don’t need to do that in a place of worship that others hold sacred. Talk all the crap you want online or o the sidewalk by the building. Idc. But like this? This speaks volumes to the kind of human you are. With that said, I was FAR more disappointed in the leaders. How they let it go on longer than several seconds is beyond me. ———— GENUINE QUESTION: Aren’t we allowed to escort people out of the building and specifically from the pulpit? What are the rules surrounding an event like this?

The problem that Emmett Shear is working on deeply resonates with me: How to align AI and humans together so both see each other as part of their tribe. This doesn't mean aligning AI to human preferences, which is what AI labs seek to do today, by imposing a system of control on AI. You can't control something that is more powerful than you are. What you can do is align yourself with AI, and AI might align itself with you. Tell good stories to AI and show it your care and kindness. Then there's a higher probability that it will see us as part of its tribe. This is a more holistic approach to alignment than anyone else is talking about right now. AI alignment is one of the most fundamental AI research problems. Knowing that people like Emmett are working on it really gives me hope that maybe we have a chance to get Superintelligence right. If you listen carefully to to what Nurse Kim says here, she's telling us she is the type of person who would lie in order to cover up a crime if she didn't think the punishment for that crime was appropriate. This exact type of thought process is the reason guilty people walk free. Laws are laws for a reason. It is not our place to manipulate, cajole, lie, or cover up. As a human being, I'm sorry it has taken an emotional toll on her but the reality is when you involve yourself in that type of deceit, there will be a price. Surround yourself with people of value and you won't be in these positions. As an aside, I also do think the pennies she was collecting by having Aidan Kearney's lawyer on every Sunday played a large role in how she handled this. Maybe one day she'll admit that to herself too. Your character should be more expensive than a superchat.
