Drone footage captured the moment three humpback whales worked together in a synchronized bubble-net feeding attack off the coast of Montauk, New York. 🐋 According to NOAA Fisheries, group-coordinated bubble-net feeding is a highly complex, synchronized behavior where humpback whales blow a circular "curtain" of air bubbles to corral and condense schools of small fish or krill. Once the prey is tightly trapped inside the circular net, the whales lunge upward through the center of the ring to feed.

Every moment is a teaching moment, especially for humpback whales, as this mother teaches her calf how to corral prey by creating streams of strategically-placed bubbles—a technique known as bubble-net feeding. 🐋 #SecretsOfTheWhales is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.

A wild scene played out off the coast of Portugal with a pod of orca whales seen attacking and sinking yet another boat. It's not the first incident of its kind. But scientists say the whales aren't targeting humans — they most likely just want to play.

Humpback sightings continue in Sussex 🐋 Thank you to all those who have been reporting humpback sightings over the last week. This footage, recorded by Stan Coddles on Sunday at Birling Gap shows the Humpback whale pectoral fin slapping, a form of non-verbal communication. 🧵
