Yes..and God will take care of the revenge part

I find it kind of funny and spiritual that whenever this stuff is on my mind, I come across these videos 🤔 it’s almost like Jesus knows what you’re thinking

In my opinion the reason he says “right” cheek is because it symbolizes that it’s not a physical assault as much as it is an insult. With Jews at the time (like now) being predominately right handed, to slap you on the right cheek makes it a back hand - which is an insult to one who is lesser.. turning the other cheek makes them have to treat you as an equal as you can no longer be backhanded while cheek is turned .. and it removes the sting of the blow .. insult require a weak response in order to be successful .. turning into it removes its power A quote attributed to Epictetus goes something like If someone tells you that you another has spoken about your faults behind your back .. respond with (turn other cheek) he just not have known of my other faults or he would have mentioned those also

Well, one thing that perhaps you’re fundamentally missing is that the teaching in the passage refers to treatment between disciples does not apply to the world at large

That’s a great illustration, but that’s not actually the context in what that was said. Again I may be wrong but from what I understand the actual translation is something to the effect of “OK was that worth it slapping me did that do something for you would you like to do that to my other cheek? Would that satisfy you?” You see in the context it meant receiving a backhanded slap. It was more of a disrespectful thing than an actual stealing or hurtful things so what you’re doing is showing them that they have to look at their own behavior by offering them the other cheek you’re turning the embarrassment and shame on not about going back and grabbing something or what other fruit you’re cutting off that’s a secondary thing again, still a good point, but I don’t think that’s the correct context of the verse.

Good message.

That’s right. His message was about self control, self emotional regulation. It didn’t mean being weak and defenseless. Staying faithful and trusting God to do His Will (Karma) is the way. It’s not easy tho… holding one’s tongue… wow! It is hard!!

Nice

Beautiful illustration

Attention Bible thumpers . This is for when you’re out preaching the gospel, and you overload someone’s donkey with truth. Christians are not second class citizens. Always defend yourself.
