Luck was included in the story,but if his dad was a narcissist: look-in down on people,he wouldn't have seen the opportunity.He was accommodating enough to let him in despite it was their dinner to share with him/kind hearted and was business oriented taking the money/expanding.

What if the father had judged him and sent him off because he was smelly?? What if he was sent away because he was not looking nice… That is why the scriptures says “Who is as blind as my servant”. We Christians really have to wake up.
