MAKE FASTING GREAT AGAIN ‼️ -Why? Because ONLY the crucified lamb of God and first love for HIM matters in this hour of history. ⚡JESUS is why we FAST Fasting is a sacred invitation to the mysteries of the Gospel In 99% of most churches & ministries #fasting is not part of the strategy. Simply stated…the church is NOT spiritual starving to the point of NOT eating. ⚡hours spent in His Holy Presence through prayer & Worship is not known to most modern church leaders. The theme of the #roaringtwentiesfast is #revivaloffirstlove 📖- Rev 2:4-5 Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. Fasting is about loving JESUS more. I am grateful for influential leaders in the body of Christ who are voices for fasting. Shane Idleman says fasting is “To choose the pain of discipline over the pain of regret” I agree‼️ Vlad Savchuk says "WE NEED TO FAST NOT JUST DURING CRISIS, BUT BECAUSE WE HAVE A CALLING UPON OUR LIVES." Again I agree ‼️ Jentezen Franklin says “For me, fasting has been the secret to obtaining open doors, miraculous provision, favor, and the tender touch of God upon my life.” ⚡-Co-sign Lou Engle asks the question “who will pay the price in fasting and prayer” 🤷‍♂️ Mike Signorelli, the pastor behind one of the top Christian films in America in 2023 #DominoRevival states… “I believe stepping into the discipline of fasting will help usher in your breakthrough. Fasting is a great place to start if you’re in a season of hardship and you feel like something needs to change or you need to increase your spiritual discipline” ⚡⚡🔥 FASTING saved Liberty University My friend Ryan Helfenbein is a major next gen leader who fasts. He is a VP at Liberty. The late Jerry Falwell in an interview about the 80 days of fasting that saved the school said “And the Lord impressed upon my heart in the summer of 1996 that it was time to do the unthinkable, that is, personally go on an absolute 40-day fast. From July 20 to the first of September, I fasted and prayed that 1997-1998 would be the year when Liberty’s debt burden was removed by God. So I fasted 40 days, July 20 through September 1. I saw mighty things beginning to happen, but I wasn’t really sure. In that first fast of 40 days, I kept asking God for money, but He impressed upon my heart that I needed to get close to Him, to listen to Him and to trust Him. When I asked for money, God told me not to ask for money, but to learn to know Him better. I had several lessons to learn before I could ask for money. As I ended that first 40-day fast, I felt I had learned what God wanted to teach me. But I didn’t have an answer about money. After resuming my normal diet for 25 days, God told me I could ask Him for money. So I went back on another 40-day fast that began September 25, 1996, ending on November 4. I broke the fast that evening. I had fasted for 80 days out of 105 days during the summer and fall.” 👉The result was miraculous and millions of dollars So as our Think Eternity team embarks on telling the story of fasting and being part of a 21 days fast starting January 8, 2024 we invite you to press into the secret place. Discover the beauty of Jesus through the power of a fasted life. Guess who just turned 5? :) Tom has been with me for the past five years. This means he has survived with me two devastating Israeli wars on Gaza in 2021, the current one (so far, of course), and many other—less devastating—escalations and assaults. Since October 2023, he has moved with me between three shelters. There have been many days and weeks when I felt I was in a dilemma since I couldn’t find anything to feed him, especially during the first months of Israel’s genocide in Gaza. I shared with him my portion of the bread we managed to find and saved him some clean water when we used to count the sips of water we could have each day. The once unsociable cat, who hated strangers, was unable to understand why he was suddenly snatched from his calm home and taken to a shelter with around 70 strangers, including children, whose noise and energy left him anxious and paranoid all the time. The once-spoiled cat, who didn’t settle for less than chicken breast and fancy wet and dry cat food and used to turn his back to me whenever I tried to feed him less fancy food, had to eat bread wetted with water and white rice leftovers when he starved and realized this wasn’t another attempt from me to make him eat what I wanted. Despite all of this, I can’t help but feel ashamed to say that Tom was so privileged compared to the hundreds of Palestinians, especially children and elderly people, who either starved to death or died due to acute malnutrition and severe vitamin and iron deficiencies caused by Israel’s systematic starvation of the population in Gaza. I feel ashamed of myself when I give Tom half of my loaf of bread and then go to work to document another case where a mother helplessly watched her child starve to death, not because she didn’t have the money to buy him food, but because there was literally no food to buy as Israel imposed a deadly blockade on northern Gaza to force the population to the south. What I’m not ashamed to admit, however, is that I now eat the same food Tom once rejected for being “poor quality.” Before the war, I’ve never bought canned luncheon meat for him, knowing how harmful it could be for cats. But for the past year, that same canned food, part of international aid, which most of the time is low quality food and barely edible, has sustained us both. These days, Tom and I share the same can of luncheon meat. But after all, I’m proud of Tom now more than ever, the spoiled cat who has transformed from a loner into a social butterfly, now making friends with all the stray cats around the shelter :) I can’t wait for the day I’ll put him in his box for the last time and head north… HOME

Today was my hardest workout before the Javelina 100—an uphill treadmill supercompensation session accumulating 60 minutes of intervals at 10% grade, starting at threshold and ending harder. I think uphill treadmill threshold sessions can be magical for some athletes. Threshold work is classically defined as LT2 or easier, around what you could sustain for 1 hour. In practice, that feels relatively relaxed at first, and it only starts to get harder after you accumulate a substantial amount of volume. The rationale of threshold work is that it improves lactate shuttling, helping mitochondria be more efficient at processing and transporting lactate, preventing fatigue cascades even at harder efforts on other days (or at easier efforts in marathons or ultras). In other words, it’s primarily an aerobic stress. Faster is not better. The real-world obstacles with threshold work are twofold. First, for most of us, it’s pretty slow when done right, or way too hard when done wrong. A study on the training of elite athletes found that long intervals had the lowest correlation with long-term growth, and this conundrum is probably why—athletes do their long intervals too hard, breaking themselves down without the mechanical or aerobic stimulus to justify it. Second, outdoor threshold work can be an injury risk. If I tried this workout outdoors, it would wreck my calves and high hamstrings for days. The uphill treadmill can help athletes get around these hurdles. It’s slower by design, putting the emphasis squarely on the aerobic system. That helps athletes develop a much more precise understanding of threshold. But perhaps most significantly, the uphill treadmill reduces impact forces immensely. When I finish one of these—even a supercompensation session—I feel fine the next day, allowing me to absorb way more work (and more specific work to my goals). Particularly with age, I find that running training is about managing the efforts that are high impact to be limited and focused. While most of the uphill treadmill work I do is very controlled, it’s also ok to occasionally dig deeper. Today was about supercompensation. It’s not called The Pain Cave for nothing 🔥

Admin Post: I'm super proud of Kenji! A local dog sport club held a rally obedience fun match today and the organizers ensured it was accessible so we could take part. Kenji has never done any kind of obedience or heelwork on grass before. The snow only left a couple of weeks ago and the ground has just dried up enough for a wheelchair. He's also never done a full rally obedience course, and he's never been to a dog event anywhere other than where we train. So there were loads of distractions, smells and new experiences. And he was absolutely amazing. He did every maneuver required on the course. Sure, he had some crooked sits and was a bit out of position a few times, but that will get better with more practice. What really mattered was his willingness, his responsiveness, and how he handled being in a new situation with all sorts of different stimuli. And he did great. There's a LOT of barriers when it comes to training a dog from a wheelchair. In winter we're limited to indoors or pavement and concrete where snow has been removed so when we can finally get off the sidewalk and into parks and fields, every sight and smell is super exciting. It's also really hard to find outdoor grassy areas that are level and have short, dry grass that is easy to roll on. Even a lot of indoor dog training facilities have really poor accessibility making it a challenge to train in different environments around many different dogs. Despite all that, we manage to be quite successful. Even though he sometimes trips over his massive paws, is growing so fast he often doesn't know how much space he takes up, and has had limited exposure to many things, he has a great temperament, incredible work ethic, and so much intelligence. He's going to be amazing. ❤️ 🎥 Kenji on a rally obedience course #rottweilers #puppytraining #DogsOfX

**Traditional Engine Order Telegraphs:** The bridge unit and the engine-room unit are connected by two chains (or wire cables) that run through conduits over sprockets, forming a continuous loop. When the bridge officer moves the handle, it turns a sprocket that pulls the chain, which in turn turns the corresponding sprocket and pointer in the engine room. This classic system does not require electricity; it relies on a direct physical linkage, ensuring that both dials always mirror each other. Here’s a typical sequence of operations: The bridge officer grabs the handle and swings it to the command position, for example, "Half Ahead." This movement not only moves the engine-room pointer but also rings a bell or gong to alert the engineers. The engineers then adjust their own handle to match the position indicated by the bridge officer; this movement serves as an acknowledgment and rings the bell back on the bridge, confirming that the order has been received and understood. Only after this acknowledgment do the engineers work the throttle and reversing gear to carry out the order. It is common practice to first execute a full sweep of the handle, moving it all the way to one extreme and back before settling on the actual command position. This exaggerated motion serves two purposes: it rings the gong loudly and unmistakably, ensuring everyone is aware that a new order is coming, and it checks that the mechanism and chains are not stuck or slack. On some ships, this full sweep also signifies an important or urgent change (such as switching from ahead to astern), emphasizing to the crew that they need to pay attention because the situation is critical. After completing this sweep, the handle is adjusted to the desired position. This telegraph is from the Steamship Shieldhall (video credit as well). Go check her out on
