Praying mantis camouflaged as a flower

Instead of hiding from prey, the orchid mantis actually attracts insects. Bees, butterflies, and flies mistake it for a real flower and come close to feed then the mantis snatches them instantly

Notable "Flower" Mantis Species Orchid Mantis (Hymenopus coronatus): Perhaps the most famous, this Southeast Asian species mimics the petals of an orchid with its heart-shaped, petal-like legs and brilliant pink-and-white coloration. Research suggests it is the only animal known to mimic an entire flower to attract pollinators. It can even be more attractive to bees and butterflies than actual flowers due to its UV-reflective patterns.

Devil’s Flower Mantis (Idolomantis diabolica): One of the largest mantis species, native to East Africa, it uses a brightly colored "deimatic" display to mimic a flower and startle potential predators. Spiny Flower Mantis (Pseudocreobotra wahlbergii): Found in Southern and Eastern Africa, it features a distinctive "number 9" or "bullseye" eyespot on its wings that it flashes as a defensive tactic. Banded Flower Mantis (Theopropus elegans): This Southeast Asian species mimics small, delicate blooms and undergoes dramatic color changes from a black/orange nymph to a white/green adult.

They aren't stuck with one outfit. Depending on the humidity and light levels, an individual mantis can transition from a bright 'living' pink to a duller 'wilted' white over the course of a few days.

That swaying is straight-up mesmerizing Until you realize it's basically a flower-shaped death trap waiting for its next victim. Nature is savage.
