Don't ever imitate what you see in this video. Big cats in some facilities seem friendly because they’re often raised by humans from a young age, a process called hand-rearing, which imprints them to see people as part of their social group. When cubs are bottle-fed or handled regularly by zookeepers, like at facilities known for conservation breeding, they grow up more comfortable with human presence. However, their friendliness has limits. Big cats have a unique “play” behavior that can look cuddly but mimics hunting skills, like pouncing or swatting, which can be dangerous as they grow. In zoos with enrichment programs, they’re also kept mentally stimulated with toys or training, making them less stressed and more likely to interact positively. These friendly predators might seem like pets, but they are still wild animals with instincts just beneath the surface!
