Hormones are a crazy thing. She may be overwhelmed with the whole situation of being a mother, maybe having even post-partal depression (it happens frequently!) and she may also dont care for herself anymore (which is sad) and focuses solely on her child.

My brothers wife just had her first kid. She kept her diet right. Kept working out. Kept herself hygienic. Took her sleep seriously. Etc. She looks EXACTLY the same as before she got pregnant. If you treat your body correctly, it tends not to break.
