UPDATE FROM COBB COUNTY, GA!!! 🎉 IT’S ZEUS’ FREEDOM RIDE 🎉 Zeus was a 10 year old senior dog whose story really broke our hearts. 💔 Apparently, his family moved out of their home and left him behind completely alone. He was found two weeks later and brought to the shelter. When Zeus first arrived, you could tell he was heartbroken. He barely wagged his tail, didn’t want to get out of bed, and just seemed so defeated by the world around him. Even when he started coming out with us volunteers, he stayed very quiet and withdrawn… 🥺 Then one incredibly sweet couple drove all the way from Chattanooga just to meet him… and the second they saw Zeus, they knew he was meant to be theirs. 🧡 When we brought Zeus into the office to get him dressed up for his big day, something about him already felt different. It was almost like he knew his life was about to change. The moment he saw his new parents sitting in the lobby, he immediately went right up to them like he had been waiting for them his entire life. 🥹 When they opened the car door, Zeus tried SO hard to climb in as fast as he could. We were all laughing through tears because although he’s an older senior boy, he was determined to make sure he wasn’t getting left behind again. And the second he got into that car, everything changed. That sad, quiet, heartbroken dog slowly disappeared right before our eyes. Zeus started smiling, rolling onto his back, asking for love, and soaking up every second of freedom. I truly believe he knew exactly what was happening 😭❤️ His new mom sat in the backseat beside him the whole drive home. She kissed him on the head, and Zeus looked back at all of us one last time… almost like he was saying thank you, and then laid down right next to Mom … His new family decided to rename him Worthy because they said he is worthy of love, and I truly do not think there could have been a more perfect name for him. It was such an honor to be part of your journey, Zeus. 💙 Thank you to this amazing couple for giving him the beautiful life he always deserved. Freedom looks so good on you, Worthy!! 😭🎉❤️

At 9 a.m., animal care staff presented Bao Li with a special panda-friendly fruitsicle cake made by the Zoo’s Department of Nutrition Science. Commissary keepers crafted the multi-tiered cake using frozen diluted pineapple juices. The treat was decorated with Bao Li’s favorite treats, including apples, carrots, sweet potatoes, blueberries and leafeater biscuits. I will publicly go on record saying this to both Jeff Luhnow & Gina Luhnow (❤️ y’all both). Because, I think my platform is fairly large enough in this space to do so. So here goes. For starters, REASONABLE Astros fans know that Jeff’s departure was an injustice. I believe that what happened to Jeff was more than just a league punishing a team. It was PERSONAL. A witch hunt spear headed by Manfred and others (most notably the LA Dodgers) targeting one individual. Jeff. Time has only fortified my belief in this. Many Astros fans agree and it has never sat right with us. But, I’m not gonna use this post to dive into that. I’ve tweeted about it for 6 years. My stance is well documented and I don’t care. THAT SAID. I’d like to make a suggestion to you, Jeff. I feel stupid/corny even doing it. But, I am a Houston Astros fanatic. Logic doesn’t really matter here. Others didn’t see the magic until around 2015. Some of us remember the let downs of the early 2000’s. Or the one in 86’. Some predate even that, but those numbers are dwindling. We all have our own unique starting point where our romance with this team began. Which leads me to this. The most important part of why I’m writing this. I feel that what Jeff’s God given gift, his mental brilliance and competence, brought to our city a collective reason to believe when we needed it most. He took over the worst team in the sport AT its HISTORICAL ROCK BOTTOM and said to us in person “We’re gonna get EVEN worse. But, after that…just watch. I have a plan. Trust me. I’m in it with all of you”. His plan finally came to fruition after our darkest moment as a city during Hurricane Harvey. At a time where a lot of us were devastated and left with nothing to hold onto for hope except the excitement of the first pitch at 7 PM that would teleport us away mentally for a couple of hours. Then we got JV. Then we won a championship. NOTHING mattered in that moment and we ALL remember where we were. We stood victorious. We trusted the process. Nothing would or ever will invalidate that glory that we felt. No matter how hard they have tried. Which, they have. Relentlessly. Again, not here to debate whether or not anyone thinks our success was valid or not. The haters can frankly kiss my ass. We made ALL of them kiss our ass in 2022 when the roster that JEFF primarily built, DOMINATED the postseason and left no doubt at all. We’ve had to deal with more hate than any fanbase of any sport that I’ve seen in my lifetime. As a city and fanbase it has definitely brought us closer together through our unique experience. But, Now we’re kind of stuck in limbo. We lack direction and we have a whole new set of challenges ahead. The game itself faces challenges as well. I know I need to wrap up, so I’ll say this. I have no idea what Jim Crane plans to do. But, I know he regrets his decision to let Jeff go. Maybe that ship has sailed and that fire for baseball doesn’t lie inside of him anymore. I certainly wouldn’t blame him. But, if there ever was ANY opportunity for Jeff to answer the calling to something greater. I think this might be it. It wouldn’t be easy. This time around comes with an entirely new set of challenges. But, I believe if anyone could figure out the answer, it’s Jeff. Because, he’s just quite simply smart like that. I will publicly go on record saying this to both Jeff Luhnow & Gina Luhnow (❤️ y’all both). Because, I think my platform is fairly large enough in this space to do so. So here goes. For starters, REASONABLE Astros fans know that Jeff’s departure was an injustice. I believe that what happened to Jeff was more than just a league punishing a team. It was PERSONAL. A witch hunt spear headed by Manfred and others (most notably the LA Dodgers) targeting one individual. Jeff. Time has only fortified my belief in this. Many Astros fans agree and it has never sat right with us. But, I’m not gonna use this post to dive into that. I’ve tweeted about it for 6 years. My stance is well documented and I don’t care. THAT SAID. I’d like to make a suggestion to you, Jeff. I feel stupid/corny even doing it. But, I am a Houston Astros fanatic. Logic doesn’t really matter here. I can also attest to the fact I am not alone. There are many others like me. MANY others. We love Houston Astros baseball. We’ve had fathers, mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers all bleed orange. Thermodynamic computing is here There is a new computing paradigm emerging from the noise, and its arrival may be as significant as the dawn of deep learning or the advent of cloud virtualization. A new company, Extropic, has just launched its first thermodynamic computer, a device they call a TSU, or Thermal Sampling Unit. While the web is already filling with deep technical dives, what’s more important for most of us is building a clear intuition for what this technology is, how it’s fundamentally different from anything that’s come before, and why it’s generating so much excitement. This isn’t just another chip; it’s a new way to think about computation itself. Seeing is Believing: Solving Puzzles in One Shot To understand what a TSU does, let’s look at two classic, notoriously difficult computer science problems: Sudoku and the Eight Queens problem. When you or I solve a Sudoku, we use a process of sequential logic, guess-and-check, and backtracking. The TSU’s physical nature allows it to naturally find these zero-energy states. A simulation of this process shows the TSU discovering all 92 unique solutions, demonstrating its ability to not just find an answer, but to explore the entire landscape of all correct answers. This is a fundamentally new approach, one that bypasses the brute-force, iterative methods we’ve relied on for decades.
