Has anyone found the inventor of the popcorn ceiling and tried him for crimes against humanity??

Absolutely should be using masks

If it does fact contain asbestos, it would classify as a class one asbestos abatement and would require a full negative pressure enclosure with a shower in a three chamber decontamination room.

There is a very good chance that contains asbestos!

All that water can cause the sheetrock to bow. Can also cause the tape on the joints to come loose. They should be wearing masks at least, If that stuff was pre 1974, it contains asbestos.

Only works if it hasn’t been painted over a few times.

Hope they tested for asbestos prior to scraping.

Is there a reason nobody bothered to wear anything protective?

I just did this on the 2nd floor of our house. So satisfying! Replaced it with a light skip trowel and skim coated over the orange peel walls. It took forever but turned out great!

Has a construction professional I can 100% tell you this much water is absolutely not necessary. It can be done with as little as a paint roller and a tray with water or a very light mist from a spray bottle

If he had a rolling scaffold, he could do it in 8 minutes, guaranteed- he scrapes, his buddy pushes him around the room after hosing everything down.

I did this in my entire house. Yes it is very satisfying. Used a paint sprayer with compressor to spray the water. Also taped the scraper to a bent pole so didn’t need to use ladder much.

I hope that whoever invented that sort of ceiling is burning or will burn in hell slowly while he stubs his pinkies against sharp corners for all eternity.

There is no better satisfaction than a popcorn ceiling that scrapes off easy. On the other hand, you will yell cuss words you did not know were in your vocabulary when the crap won’t scrape off. There are some ceilings that I will have to answer to St Peter about.

Make sure you get this tested prior to doing this. A lot of that shit prior to 90's has chrysotile in it's composition. What in the mesothelioma is right!

So dangerous if you haven’t had it tested for asbestos.

What keeps it from ruining the sheetrock? Not enough water to do that or something?
