PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO WRITES ✍️ Today, 12th September 2024, marks a proud milestone in Ghana's journey towards industrialisation and regional integration, as I had the honour of commissioning the GOIL/SMB Bitumen Plant in Tema. This state-of-the-art facility, built in partnership between Ghana's GOIL PLC and Côte d'Ivoire's Société Multinationale de Bitumes (SMB), is the largest bitumen processing plant in the country and will play a critical role in boosting Ghana’s infrastructure development. This $40 million project will not only help us meet the growing demand for bitumen products domestically, but also position Ghana as a key exporter to the West African region. I was delighted to be joined by the Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire, His Excellency Robert Beugré Mambé, representing President Alassane Ouattara, my great friend and elder brother. The deepening cooperation between Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire, demonstrated through this joint venture, reflects our shared vision for mutual prosperity and development. Together, we are proving that strategic collaboration within ECOWAS can drive sustainable industrial growth and enhance the lives of our people. With this new bitumen plant, Ghana can now reduce her reliance on foreign imports and produce high-quality bituminous products such as polymer modified bitumen and bitumen emulsions. These products are essential for road construction and will ensure the durability and sustainability of our infrastructure. This facility also opens up opportunities for export, contributing to job creation, technological advancement, and foreign exchange earnings for our country. As we move forward, let this be a shining example of what we can achieve through collaboration and innovation. I thank everyone who contributed to the successful completion of this project. Together, we will continue to forge ahead, building a stronger, more prosperous Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, and West Africa.

All these projects are going on in Ghana and they are mute??

The plant with a storage capacity of 7500 metric tons will store and process bitumen and will ensure that Ghana has the capacity to meet the growing demand for high-quality bituminous products, while significantly reducing reliance on foreign imports. By the construction of this plant, GHANA MAY NOT NEED TO IMPORT BITUMEN FOR TOAD CONSTRUCTION. The pressure on our currency will be reduced and the issue of poor roads may gradually become a thing of the past. The Plant will also open the door for Ghana to become exporters of bitumen, offering a quality product to countries within the West Africa region and beyond. President Akufo-Addo has laid solid foundation to meet the developmental goals of Ghana.

Interesting…..yet our roads are not good

Commissioned yes He only commissioned. Not a governmental project

The level of loans taken and the infrastructure given doesn’t match…. They spend 80% of the money and spend only 20% peanuts on this . And you are hyping them .. under a better leadership, those monies would have taken Ghana out from poverty.

Show me your president again. Dont play

If you’re someone in the engineering and construction industry you know how game changing this plant is, we always had to import some of the products from neighboring countries and even as far as Europe

Government taking credit for a private sector investment. And educated folks take pride in glorifying the government. Pathetic
