The clarification comes amid criticism from opposition parties, including the DA, which slammed the visit as poorly advised given Zimbabwe's political situation and the presence of controversial figures.

He blatantly disobeyed law enforcement orders to remain off federal property. Does the The Oregonian plan to also report on this individual yelling he “hopes somebody kills you guys and if they do, we should give them the medal of freedom” to our law enforcement? This violence against law enforcement must END. We will not be deterred by rioters. Law and order will prevail.

But America’s officers are very well trained and considering the size of our country and the number of officers or civilians lost during enforcement — we’re very successful at keeping this cost to a minimum. American law enforcement leaders are dedicated to a constant and continuing effort to minimize risks to both officers and civilians. Every life lost in an enforcement operation becomes a learning experience for officers throughout the country. Our law enforcement leaders have done a tremendous job developing training and strategies that have rendered use-of-force tragedies into anomalies. Americans should be very proud of where we are today as far as training of our officers.
