These words should fill us with a deep longing for the conversion of the Jewish people, who remain beloved by God for the sake of their fathers, and part of the Messiah’s family according to the flesh. Unfortunately, those who have rejected Him remain estranged from Him according to the spirit. By their rejection, these “sons of the kingdom” have been disinherited from the eternal inheritance He won for them (Matt. 8:12). The words of this Jewish man should arouse profound sadness for Christians for this, among other reasons: God’s presence has been brought into the world in a preeminent degree by His Son, the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Right now, the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of the Messiah can be encountered at every Catholic altar around the planet.
