This woman was visiting NYC, she was excited to try the food and see the sights. She saw a few people take the pedi-cabs and thought it would be an amazing experience. She found one not in use and asked the operator how much a ride was, she had a few people in her group. He said it was $20. After the ride was over she was preparing to pay him and he told her it would be $500. She argued that he told her $20, he then said yes it’s $20, per minute, per person. She was so upset and fearful because she felt he was trying to intimidate her, so she called the police. I don’t feel this was right as she still ended up paying him $200 instead of $500. Should the police have charged him for scamming her, relieving her of payment?

Jennifer Cruz, a mother of four and a business owner, has also been charged with 14 state crimes, including battery on an officer, resisting an officer, and driving with a suspended license. In January, Cruz, who was acting as an activist, was filming and tailgating a car and a marked patrol car. She followed the trooper to a parking lot, where she started yelling at him. After the trooper found out that her Florida driver’s license was suspended, she drove away. After Cruz was stopped again, she refused to hand over her keys, telling the trooper she was “ready to fight.” When one of the troopers tried to grab her keys, Cruz punched her in the face, causing injuries to her nose and fingers. Cruz continued to refuse to comply with law enforcement, and while being escorted to the patrol car, she tried to kick the same trooper she had punched earlier. On February 25, 2026, during the month of Ramadan, Roshan Khatoon, a resident of Madhubani district in Bihar, was brutally beaten while she was fasting. She later died on March 1. Roshan Khatoon had gone to the village head’s house to resolve a dispute, where she was tied to a pole and beaten with sticks. The family claims that when she asked for water while fasting, instead of being given water, she was forced to drink a mixture of alcohol and urine. Instead of being taken to the hospital in an injured condition, she was taken to the police station, where ₹50,000 was demanded. In this case, 19 people were named as accused, but only one arrest was made, and the accused was released within a week.
