The assumption here is that the Pope is behaving like a Pope. It is clear, however, that he is carrying out a political campaign against the Republican government in the US (because his outrage is highly selective and targeted). So this narrative begins with a false assumption.

What offends are politicians dragging the Pope into the political mudsling in Washington D.C. Embarrassing and diminishes Congress. When the Pope addresses politics or specific geopolitical situations like Iran, he speaks with the moral authority of his office, but not with infallibility. Catholics may respectfully debate the prudential wisdom of his political assessments while still accepting the underlying moral principles he invokes. Pope Leo has allowed himself to be politically maniptulated. Reminder for Pope Leo - "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's." Pope Leo should look to history and evaluate how former Pope - Saint John Paul II was successfull.

A "just war" is supposedly responding to "an existing or imminent and objectively verifiable attack " In this case, Trump came to the conclusion it was justified. "Imminent and objectively verifiable" is clearly a POLITICAL CONCLUSION. I thought the Pope wasn't make supposed to deal with those.... And yet he declared it "unjust" with no input or basis other than discussions with Axelrod, a Trump enemy, and Soros, a Trump arch-enemy. He declined discussion with the administration. The Pope acted as a direct political agent and attacked Trump first. If he wants "respect and reverence" then don't be a political agent because in the US, it is not a friendly game. The Pope is a leftist pawn and should apologize to Trump, not the other way around.
