I used to date her

One of the most famous instances is the case of Anneliese Michel in the 1970's. It inspired various films and books, most notably the movie "The Exorcism of Emily Rose." Anneliese reported seeing demonic faces, hearing voices telling her she was damned, and experiencing periods of paralysis and extreme aversion to religious objects, leading her to believe she was possessed. Her condition did not improve despite medical treatment, leading her and her family to seek help from the Catholic Church, convinced that her afflictions were due to demonic possession. After much hesitation, the Church granted permission for an exorcism, and over ten months, from 1975 to 1976, Father Arnold Renz and Pastor Ernst Alt performed 67 exorcism sessions on Anneliese. Anneliese Michel died on July 1, 1976, at the age of 23. The autopsy report stated that she died of malnutrition and dehydration, having weighed only 68 pounds (about 30 kilograms) at the time of her death.
