A soldier with the callsign "Chornyi" was drafted into the Russian army at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. He shared that his commanders had told him the Russians were welcomed in Enerhodar as 'liberators,' but after seeing videos of what was actually happening there, he decided to desert. However, for this, he and five other Russians were sent to the Donetsk direction as a "beacon" - to check whether there were Ukrainian soldiers or not - where they were captured. The Russians, seeing that the soldiers had surrendered, tried to kill them with mortars. In captivity, "Chornyi" decided to join the Russian Volunteer Corps and defend Ukraine, because, as he says, "it is necessary to fight against the current authorities" in Russia. 📹: Suspilne

I also spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron and expressed gratitude for his positive response to our request for additional supplies. Both France and Germany can further enhance their support to help us defend against Russian terrorist attacks. I also had a conversation with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. I personally thanked him and his government team for increasing support for Ukraine next year. We discussed joint actions for the near future, focusing on expanding cooperation in weapons production in Ukraine and strengthening the protection of our energy infrastructure. I thank everyone for the willingness to help.

These are concrete things to strengthen our joint defense and co-production, and, importantly, this also means Ukraine’s expertise and experience helping to strengthen our partners. This is exactly the kind of systemic cooperation we are building with those who have consistently supported us throughout all the years of Russia’s war. Ukraine is interested in ensuring that every region of Europe has sufficient protection against Russian threats. I also informed the Prime Minister about Ukraine’s air defense needs. Separately, we discussed sanctions pressure on Russia, in particular strengthening sanctions against Russia’s shadow fleet. I am grateful that we have such excellent relations between our nations. And we thank Latvia for all the support it has provided to Ukraine throughout this war.
