Milton Friedman talked about it, and he’s a great economist, because something changed between then and probably the ’70s and ‘80s when all of a sudden—even back then—we started recognizing there was a problem. Why is that? What’s the difference between open borders and closed borders between 1914 and the ’70s and ’80s? PabloReports: Well, some people would say that it’s because white immigrants were coming in 1914 and Latinos were coming in the ’70s and ’80s. McCormick: Not at all. If you have jobs to come to and you’re paying taxes, everybody’s happy. But if you come here and you’re starting to take welfare and we’re paying for you being here, that is a cost to America. The business of America is business. If you’re doing something that’s bad for the American economy, that doesn’t lift the tide of all ships here, then it’s not good for America. This is about the American country that we’ve all grown accustomed to. And it has to make common sense. I mean, common sense is what we’re supposed to be about.

Christopher Nolan says The Odyssey is a promise he made to himself at 16, watching a volcano documentary in a dome-screen IMAX in Chicago. Christopher Nolan: "Going to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago when I was 16 years old, seeing a documentary about volcanoes in the OmniMax format, and thinking... why on earth isn't Hollywood using this format? I always wanted to be a director. If I ever got the chance, could I shoot a film in this way?" Christopher Nolan: "I called my friends at IMAX and said, look... if ever we're going to make a film entirely on IMAX, this is The Odyssey. This is the one. Can you find a way to alleviate the limiting factor? The cameras are extremely loud." Christopher Nolan: "What they did is they came up with a way of blimping the camera... a high-tech box that silences it. The thing weighed about 300 pounds. But it let us, for the first time ever, get the quiet scenes, the dramatic scenes, and therefore do the whole film."

So, who here is old enough to remember this classic which turns 40 this year? Alex Kidd in Miracle World is a 1986 Sega Master System platformer. On planet Aries, you play as Alex Kidd, descend Mt. Eternal, and learn that the evil Janken the Great has conquered Radaxian, kidnapped Prince Egle (Alex's brother), and Princess Lora. And there you have it, your typical 80s hero story :) As the lost prince and son of King Thunder, you jump, punch, and quest through various stages, fight monsters and bosses, and take on Janken's henchmen (Rockhead, Paperhead, Scissorhead) in rock-paper-scissors duels. It's a typical platformer, and while not as good as Mario Bros., I always felt Alex Kidd gets a bit too lost in the shuffle of 80s platformers. Sega dropped Alex as their mascot in favor of Sonic years later - probably a wise choice in hindsight.

Peter Jackson on the greatness of Sir Christopher Lee: "Christopher spoke seven languages; he was in every sense, a man of the world; well versed in art, politics, literature, history and science. He was scholar, a singer, an extraordinary raconteur and of course, a marvelous actor. One of my favourite things to do whenever I came to London would be to visit with Christopher and Gitte where he would regale me for hours with stories about his extraordinary life. I loved to listen to them and he loved to tell them - they were made all the more compelling because they were true - stories from his time with the SAS, through the Second World War, to the Hammer Horror years and later, his work with Tim Burton - of which he was enormously proud. I was lucky enough to work with Chris on five films all told and it never ceased to be a thrill to see him on set. I remember him saying on my 40th Birthday (he was 80 at the time), “You’re half the man I am”. Being half the man Christopher Lee is, is more than I could ever hope for. He was a true gentleman, in an era that no longer values gentleman. I grew up loving Christopher Lee movies. For most of my life I was enthralled by the great iconic roles he not only created - but continued to own decades later. But somewhere along the way Christopher Lee suddenly, and magically, dissolved away and he became my friend, Chris. And I loved Chris even more. There will never be another Christopher Lee. He has a unique place in the history of cinema and in the hearts of millions of fans around the world." The release, which included tracks like "Call My Name," "Cinnamon Girl," and "Life 'O' The Party," was given to concert goers who attended the performances, while the physical retail version was available in the UK on April 19th, and in the US on April 20th. "Musicology is all about music the way it used to be and it’s about getting the music to the people. That’s why everyone who comes to the show gets a copy of the record. The CD is included in the ticket price, and we’re giving out approximately 50,000 copies each week in order to keep increasing the exposure to the new album." - Prince We’ll be highlighting all 12 tracks on the album starting with the title track. Being a kid in the 80s and playing Operation Wolf is one of the best memories I have of that era. The Uzi-style machine gun was mounted on the cabinet (how epic was that!), with realistic recoil feedback. As a kid growing up watching Stallone and Arnie movies, this game was beyond awesome. You're basically a one-man army on a hostage rescue mission in enemy territory (a generic South American-inspired "banana republic" setting). The goal is to fight through six stages: Jungle, Village, Ammo Dump, Prison Camp, and Airport - to free captives and escape safely. The game feels heavily inspired by 80s action movies like Rambo and Commando, with over-the-top carnage and just mowing through whole platoons of enemy soldiers - in other words: Pure fun! Hard to find the right words to describe the feeling but I am sure that anyone who grew up in the 80s will have played this game at some point in time.

But rather than portraying Apu as a foreigner taking advantage of intellectually vulnerable people, his blatant disregard for his new community's wellbeing is just sort of a fun curiosity. And Homer is the real idiot for having allowed himself to be taken advantage of. After Apu loses his job, the Simpsons let him stay with them and they fight for him to get rehired at the Kwik-E-Mart.
