🚨What a disaster! My reporting on former Gov. Bruce Rauner is a big reason why the Illinois Policy Institute and GOP candidate for Illinois Governor Ted Dabrowski have attacked me for years. Why? Because I questioned Rauner about the Illinois TRUST Act — the law that made Illinois a sanctuary state for illegal aliens. At the time, Dabrowski was a VP at Illinois Policy Institute and Rauner was one of the group’s biggest donors. As this 2017 video shows, Rauner repeatedly refused to answer my questions about whether he supported the TRUST Act, which had just passed the Illinois senate. He signed it in 2017 with the Democrat majority. That’s why Gov. J. B. Pritzker reminds people he didn’t sign the TRUST Act into law — a Republican governor did. To think that a GOP governor and a supposed "conservative" policy think tank did this. But my conflict with Illinois Policy Institute started long before Rauner due to their donor hoarding, their attacks on conservative and libertarian candidates, and their attempts to control GOP primaries. Before IPI’s rise, Illinois government was far more politically balanced, with both parties holding power. Look at Illinois now. 🤔
