Sen. Cory Booker: I have not seen something as farcical as what I've witnessed over the last few weeks. A slush fund had been created for Trump to dole out to people that stormed the Capitol and beat police officers in this building. You even have conservatives coming out and saying these things are not worth the paper they're drawing on. We got no guarantees whatsoever that this slush fund still can't go forward. We got nothing that Trump can't cheat on his taxes and have no accountability.

An officer was seen taking a knee and praying Thursday morning near the scene where five Pennsylvania police officers were shot in York County Wednesday afternoon. Three officers were killed while two officers were injured. Detective Mark Baker, Detective Isaiah Emenheiser, and Detective Sergeant Cody Becker were fatally wounded while honorably carrying out their duty to serve and protect. Prayers to the officers who were injured, as well as to the families, friends, and colleagues who now grieve this profound loss. If you interfere with ICE or try to attack police officers, don’t come crying when things go VERY wrong for you. This was captured last night by a Malawian national around Olievenhoutbosch on the R55, warning that things are getting chaotic because the police are going door-to-door conducting undocumented foreigner raids. Honestly, as a South African citizen, I am legally obligated to carry my ID everywhere I go. Why should it be any different for foreigners? If you enter another country, carrying your passport, valid visa, and legal permits shouldn't be optional it should be a bare minimum requirement. Law enforcement is just doing it's job! Chicago… this just happened on our North Side, at Swedish Hospital. Two police officers shot… at a hospital. A place where people go for help, turned into a crime scene. And recently, a 23-year-old man was stabbed in the neck while walking near Grant Park in downtown Chicago. This is NOT normal. This is what happens when leadership fails, but tries to gaslight you with fake crime stats. People can’t even walk safely. Hospitals aren’t even safe. Chicago, we have a serious problem. As your future mayor, I will restore order, back our police, be tough on crime, and make Chicago safe again, just as I’ve always advocated for the safety of Chicago citizens.
