Small clips from my latest YouTube video “how to drag bunt from the left side” •Perfect the bunt down first base line. That is the hardest bunt to cover. •Barrel comes quick through the zone. •Barrel should be out before left foot crosses over. •Top hand is dominant. I prefer to wrap my hand around the handle for better barrel control. •Once the ball hits the bat, barrel shouldn’t go out anymore. Don’t stab at the ball. Catch it. •Keep moving through the ball. •Ball should make contact more towards the end of the bat. •Make contact more on top of the ball.

TAG PLAY FROM LAST NIGHTS TEXAS & GEORGIA CWS GAME. 1) Texas catcher initial set up is inside the 3B line & in fair territory. 2) When he reads the SS’s throw from down the LF line, he takes a big drop step to get a more favorable hop. Unfortunately the drop step takes him behind HP which allows the runner to score before being tagged. 3) In today’s game with replay review as part of the process, it is best to make the tag before the runner gets to HP. Most successful tag outs are made up the 3B line on the slider’s midline before he gets to HP. 4) In this situation the catcher was probably not far enough up the line & took too big a drop step. ( Most likely a combination of the two) IMO the ideal initial set up on throws from LF/CF is 17” up the line & 17” inside the line. From that position a good throw legally takes you into the line & keeps you from getting behind the plate. It also allows the catcher to work back towards the plate on a wide throw on the 1st base side. 5) Ideally on a close play like this one you are making a quick one handed sweep tag while pivoting through the runner while sliding & pivoting on both knees.

Drag bunt! Just imagine any player doing this against any type of modified shift. It’s there all day long! In my opinion, every hitter from HS and above should have this in their “tool box.” Never know when it might be the solution to a particular game situation. I have always said HS hitters can boost their batting average over .100 points if they know how to drag and push bunt. I would say the same is true for college players…At least .50 points. Not being able to bunt is about as bad as a LH pitcher with a bad pick-off move to 1B. No excuse for it. JS

Murphy starts Friedl’s next AB off with a cutter at the chin to which Friedl took exception too 🤣 Owen Murphy wasn’t moved. Nuggets have made a crucial adjustment to the Wolves' tactic of having KAT stay on Jokić whenever he rolls. Watch Christian Braun. He sets an initial screen ("ram" screen) on KAT to delay him from the ball-screen action. When Jokić sets the screen, KAT is forced to step up to cover Jamal coming off, which doesn't allow him to recover back toward Jokić. "He (Luke) knew the play was coming and I regret not playing it with him. Luke reacts, he sticks his foot in the ground and takes off and smokes Demaryius Thomas on the play. The ball bounces right up in the air and if I would have just listened to him, I would have been right there able to react."

Even if the teen had a gun, and even if that gun fell during the chase, the bigger question is whether he had reason to fear for his own life once grown men were pursuing him away from the store. From his perspective, he may not have known what they intended to do. He could have believed they were chasing him to beat him, hold him, or even kidnap him. In that situation, it is fair to ask whether he also had a right to defend himself. The focus should not only be on whether he had a gun. The focus should also be on why he was chased off the property in the first place and whether the people chasing him created the danger that led to the shooting.

Scenario 1 of 3 that I go over in my latest YouTube video “how to defend the walk to 2nd base with a runner on 3rd” For this specific scenario here’s a couple key points: •Get the ball back to the pitcher quickly. This forces the runner on third to commit and either break for home or retreat to the bag. •As pitcher is getting the ball back in the circle, peek to make sure the runner from 3rd went back to bag. •Allow the runner rounding 1st to get close to the 2nd baseman. The closer she is, the quicker the tag can be applied, allowing for an immediate throw home if the runner from third attempts to score. My biggest takeaway is at the end of this video. Let the girls try and make some plays. Get them to be competitive. The more they do it, the more comfortable they will get at it. Don’t just give up a free base- make the other team work for it.
