This is not the original palm wine.. This is the process of making the sugary one which at my place is called "ladies palm wine" aka Epkor, aka Nkwu-ani. And is considered the 3rd class of palm wine.

This is not the regular type of palm wine we make. My local dialet calls this EKPO. After processing it, it tastes sweeter than the normal palm wine. It costs lesser too cus this not the pure palm wine. The pure one is extracted from palm trees that are still standing tall.

This is one out of 3 ways palwine can be tapped, this method is used when they want the tree gone, either because the tree is dying or clearing of land for farm or building. And this is lower grade of palmwine
