Professor PLO Lumumba has warned that while colonial powers are once again seeking to divide Africa in order to conquer it through a new scramble for the continent, such tactics can no longer serve as an excuse for Africa’s inaction. He insists that Africa must recognize its collective strength...

Professor PLO Lumumba delivers a searing indictment of the weakness plaguing Africa, rooted in the disintegration of its own continental institutions. He laments how the promise of collective strength, embodied in bodies like the East African Community, ECOWAS, SADC, IGAD, COMESA, and NEPAD, has crumbled into dysfunction. This internal collapse, he argues, has strategically crippled the continent, forcing individual nations into isolated, bilateral negotiations with powers like the United States and the European Union. In these asymmetrical dealings, Africa is systematically exploited, its sovereignty bargained away. This condition, Lumumba powerfully concludes, reduces Africa to mere sustenance, food to be consumed by predatory external interests, a metaphor for the neocolonial plunder that continues to feast upon the continent's wealth and potential.

Maponga Marara compares Burkina Faso under Ibrahim Traoré to China as two successful models that the rest of Africa should emulate. He argues that Africa dropped the ball somewhere along its historical path, particularly due to the disruptive interventions of parasites: imperialists who colonized the continent and plundered its mineral wealth. That interference derailed Africa’s developmental trajectory and imposed foreign systems, including the version of democracy exported to the continent, which has only bred instability. Maponga insists that despite this violent disruption, Africa can still march toward prosperity by following the example set by Traoré: a leader charting a defiant, anti-colonial path to self-determination and genuine sovereignty.

Professor PLO Lumumba reflects on why Kenya consistently falls under Western influence, even as it hosted a France-Africa Summit at a time when the French are being expelled from West Africa. He observes that in courting Nairobi, the West tells Kenya it is exceptional, more sophisticated than its neighbors Uganda and Tanzania, a middle-income economy. This, he argues, is how they continue to divide and rule, ensuring that the dream of a united East Africa remains unrealized. As a result, the region can no longer hold together, neither in resolving conflicts (Sudan, South Sudan, DRC-Rwanda) nor in negotiating as a collective bloc. Such is the enduring cunning of colonial and imperialist strategy.

Africa no longer wants to align itself with the great powers, whatever they may be” The role assigned to Africa in this 21st century is evocative of the image that certain powers of our continent still have: their zone of influence. We must be concerned about the place that Africa occupies on the world stage. The great powers want to reduce Africa to a purely instrumental entity in the service of their causes and obviously do not want the continent to be able to play an important role. The fractures of the colonial era between a so-called French-speaking, Spanish speaking, Portuguese-speaking, Arabic-speaking and English-speaking Africa have diminished, as have the post-Cold War ideologies that dominated the entire second part of the 20th century. Today Africa wants to be itself, it is “Africanophone” if you allow it. Africa expects more equality, respect, equity and justice in its relations and partnerships with the rest of the world, with the major powers, whatever they may be. Today Africans want to be true partners. In the concert of nations, Africa must be listened to for dialogue to have meaning. The lack of listening perverts the meaning of the dialogue, which turns into a juxtaposition of monologues and biased reasons. Africa certainly does not have the same megaphones as the great powers of the world, but the voice of Africa counts and must count if we want to have Africa as a partner on major international issues. Moreover, Africa expects a true partnership and our allies must make an effort to accept the spirit of such a partnership. Our allies cannot always expect unconditional support from the continent. Africa wants to cooperate with its allies on the basis of its well-understood interests. #UNGA #UNGA2023 #UNGA78 #Africanophonie #APA #AfricanPoliticalAlliance #PanafricanCongress #LomePanafricanCongress #Lome2024 #Panafrican #Panafricanism #LPSF #LPSF2023 #OurAfrica

P.L.O. Lumumba: Africa's Greatest Threat Is ‘Compradors’ Serving Foreign Powers One of Africa's biggest problems isn't just foreign interference. It's the leaders who put foreign interests ahead of their own people. In this powerful excerpt from a speaking appearance in Rwanda, Kenyan author and academic P.L.O. Lumumba reflects on the idea of the 'comprador bourgeoisie' - the African political elite who, from the colonial era to today, have enabled outsiders to profit at Africa's expense while weakening the continent from within. His message is that Africa cannot keep negotiating as a collection of fragmented states that are siloed away from each other. Real strength, he says, lies in regional cooperation and ultimately, a stronger African Union that can defend the continent's collective interests.

The Spearhead Supports A Borderless Africa Ghanaian rapper and entrepreneur Sarkodie, in collaboration with Africa Prosperity Network has put out a message in solidarity with the Make Africa Borderless Now! Movement – a Pan-Africanist campaign calling for free movement, free trade, and true cultural, political and military integration across the continent. We at the Spearhead fully endorse this message! Despite its immense natural resources and vast human capital, Africa’s potential remains stifled by artificial borders imposed upon it during the colonial era, and the artificial divisions imposed by these predatory colonial forces precisely to keep Africa vulnerable and weak. Every one of Africa’s great leaders, from Nkrumah to Lumumba to Cabral to Gaddafi, dreamed of a strong, united Africa. Though many of them were silenced for this dream by Western powers, the dream lives on today in nations like Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso, which have chosen unity and sovereignty over division and submission, and with their continued economic and political wins, are setting an example for the rest of the continent and its diaspora to follow.

If the US Empire Sees the Potential in a United States of Africa, Why Don’t Africans? 141 years ago, the Berlin Conference carved Africa into fragments, and the continent still operates within those colonial-era borders. Psychologically, this framework has instilled in Africans, including so-called African leaders, a sense of division, when in truth, the continent ought to function as one indivisible powerhouse on the global stage. Meanwhile, the current face of U.S. imperialism, President Donald Trump, has openly acknowledged Africa’s potential. But the empire he represents has no interest in such unity, as the continent continues to be viewed and engaged as a fertile ground for mineral resource extraction. The only viable path forward for Africa is maintaining a united, indivisible front, as demonstrated by Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso. In doing so, Africa would no longer have to resist Western imperialism and neo-colonialism in ways that repeatedly result in the loss of Pan-African leaders.

OMALI YESHITELA: AFRICAN UNION WAS FORMED TO DIVIDE, NOT UNIFY In 2019, at Oxford Union’s debate society, African People’s Socialist Party (African People’s Socialist Party on X) founder and Chairman Omali Yeshitela provided an insightful breakdown of why the African Union—originally the Organisation of African Unity (OAU)—was not formed to unite Africa, but to keep the continent divided. Chairman Omali Yeshitela (X) asserts Kwame Nkrumah (1909-72), Ghana’s first president and founding father of the OAU, held a vision of a United States of Africa that would be fully integrated—politically, socially and economically. Instead, the OAU formed as a compromise due to the ideological differences between the Casablanca and Monrovia groups. The former sought to dismantle colonial borders, while the latter sought to operate within them. Unfortunately, the OAU fortified colonial borders that have prevented meaningful progress for Africa, leaving the continent divided and economically vulnerable to continued exploitation, which Nkrumah had warned about. While Prof PLO Lumumba recognizes that the war of US-Israel against Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is going to have a negative impact on African economy, he points out that it's an opportunity to diversify. He reveals the potentiality of the oil in Uganda, Kenya, Angola, Gabon, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria and Libya. Thus, Africa must build the infrastructure that enables the continent to be self sufficient in so far as oil energy in concerned.

THE MAN BEHIND AFRICA'S PARTITION 140 years ago today, on the 15th of November 1884, European powers came together and carved up Africa with not a single African in the room in what's called the Berlin Conference. This was the brainchild of German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, and his thirst for German colonies in Africa led to a catastrophic tragedy. The Conference sparked the scramble for Africa among European powers. Participants drew arbitrary borders, disregarding cultural and political groups, causing disruption and conflicts. The result was the exploitation of Africa's resources by colonial powers. Bismarck's actions had devastating consequences for the African continent.

NOW DECLASSIFIED: CIA PLOTTED COUP AGAINST NKRUMAH Ghana's president, John Dramani Mahama, says that newly declassified documents from the US archives implicate the CIA in the coup that ousted the nation's first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Mahama made the significant announcement on 6 March during the celebrations marking Ghana's 68th Independence Day. Nkrumah, a prominent pan-African figure during Africa's decolonisation, envisioned an industrialised Ghana that would lead the continent towards self-sufficiency. His aspirations were abruptly halted when a military and police coup took place on 24 February 1966, while he was on a diplomatic mission in China. As a pan-Africanist and socialist, Nkrumah launched initiatives aimed at achieving political and economic independence for Africa during a period when much of the continent remained under colonial rule. He dreamed of a united Africa liberated from imperialism, a vision he actively pursued by organising the first All-African Peoples’ Conference in Accra, Ghana, in 1958. In 1963, he was instrumental in founding the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), the forerunner of the African Union (AU). Due to his dedication to socialism and pan-Africanism, his willingness to work with the Soviet Union and China, and his efforts to foster anti-imperialism across Africa and beyond, Nkrumah increasingly became perceived as a threat by the US government, which initiated plans to depose him. The coup in 1966 disrupted Ghana's path to industrialisation and led to prolonged political turmoil. Today, the West African nation grapples with substantial foreign debts owed to imperialist institutions such as the IMF, while ordinary citizens face rising living costs - an unfortunate departure from Nkrumah's original vision. Additionally, Western powers have similarly undermined other influential African leaders, including Patrice Lumumba of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Amílcar Cabral in Guinea-Bissau and Sylvanus Olympio of Togo. Professor PLO Lumumba argues that the core reason the Ukraine war persists lies in the profound delusion of European bureaucrats. He observes that their strategy was built on a series of failed predictions: that the Russian ruble would crumble, that Moscow would be cut off from global oil markets, and that its economy would implode under sanctions. Yet none of these forecasts materialised. In light of this, Lumumba contends that Europe must learn to coexist with Russia as a matter of strategic survival, for the United States is geographically distant, its hegemony growing cold and brittle with age. Nevertheless, he finds cause for hope in the emergence of more pragmatic leaders, particularly in Italy and Spain, and suggests that even the recent resignation in the United Kingdom Kie Stamer may signal a shift in European consciousness: a move away from reflexive subservience toward a more sober and autonomous foreign policy, one no longer captive to imperial hubris.

Professor PLO Lumumba asserted that any foreign-backed overthrow of the Iranian government would constitute a profound failure for its orchestrators. He emphasized that the Iranian people, possessing a profound sense of national pride, would mount a formidable resistance. He warned that such an imperialist project of regime change, spearheaded by the United States and Israel, would not succeed but would instead plunge the region into further destabilizing chaos, serving as another tragic chapter in the long history of colonial intervention.
