Project codename: I have been building this for 3 days now. It uses NoGraphicsAPI for rendering. Destructible SDF world. Similar tech as Claybook (2018). Still missing fluids, lava, etc. There's a final boss too...

60Hz video seems so sluggish. Playing it at locked 4K 240Hz on my OLED at home.

Забавно, но я работаю над чем-то похожим

Q3A vibes.

We played it a lot when I was younger. Boomer game for boomer audience.

Q3A at LAN parties was peak gaming for me.

This needs to work in browser and have absolutely zero friction to get playing, this is the kind of game for that downtime niche

Unfortunately WebGPU doesn't have all the stuff I need for NoGraphicsAPI. It's 100% bindless with GPU pointers and descriptor heaps and persistently mapped GPU memory accessible directly by CPU. WebGPU has none of them.

how long would this have taken you if you would have done it without AI?

Daymmmm gameplay already looks quite fun.

This game needs some Noita / Wings type fluid physics. Too few fun physics games

Yes. Claybook-style fuilds are planned. I wrote the GPGPU fluid/particle simulators for it.

Clankers sure love their identical looking game UIs...

This is a 3 day prototype zero UI design has been done yet. More important to make the game fun first.

@XorDev If you replace subtractive geometry with additive and do fluid simulation (on compute shaders), could be a novel game )

@XorDev I will add foam grenades soon. Fluid/lava is planned.

in the first 30 seconds i thought the pace of the game feels familiar...and then there it was, the rocket jump! Was the pacing inspired by Quake 3 Arena? amazing for a 3 days old project!

This is a boomer shooter. Super fast paced. Zero wait, skill based movement (rocket jump, wall jump, etc). We played Quake Arena a lot back in the day with friends.

ahh a fellow Quake 3 Arena player! i too played lots of it with friends..i was not in competitive multiplayer, but my achievement was I beat Xaero on the hardest difficulty, in a closed space arena, both of us on railguns blazing. in open space, there's no chance beating Xaero.

I’m sorry destructible SDF? Wow. 🤯

Add wallrun & walljump

Wall jump already there. Wall run would be nice. Putting in TODO list.

Interested in performance numbers vs incumbent APIs (DX12, Vlkn) ...

Hi Seb one question just came to my mind: if you keep destryoing SDFs by subtraction, what happens when an SDF (e.g. a cube) is totally engulfed by a negative SDF (e.g. a sphere)? do they annihilate each other? or maybe im just thinking about this wrong

3 days? this is crazy

can i ask what are you using for the UI? custom thing?

Love the swarm

The speed at which you are improving this project is amazing.

I'm really tempted to take your repo and see what the minimal openxr impl looks like with it and just see if I can make it my new sandbox for XR playing around. Esp proving "speed of light" thinking around some concepts

didn't i see this demo like a month ago?
