Many Russian units have more personnel than equipment. One of the Russian CAAs under the command of the CMD has 104% of the required crews for UGVs, while at the same time, only 75% of the required number of UAS. So far, the UGV direction in Ukraine is better and more advanced, and we use quite a decent variety of them. Russians, as usual, scale only a couple of platforms (the most popular is "Courier"). So I assume that in 2026 we may have parity. Destruction of "Omych" and "Courier" UGVs.

A Russian “Courier” UGV with an improvised mine trawl detonates a Ukrainian PTM-U (PTM-3 replacement) anti-tank landmine. Somewhat surprisingly the UGV shows no ill effects. The magnetic-influence “Jonik” fuze also has an anti-movement gyroscope that may have caused detonation.

Russian Unmanned Systems Forces operators are undergoing UGV training with Courier and Depesha combat and logistics platforms: "Under the watchful eyes of instructors, they practice operating ground robots in conditions of active EW jamming, closely resembling the realities of Ukraine combat. They learn to deliver ammunition and medicine, conduct reconnaissance and fire support, and evacuate the wounded. In addition, soldiers undergo tact med, fire and assault training, as well as in-depth study of tactical UAVs."

Another angle of Russian airstrikes in Dobropilla shows that two Ukrainian soldiers were present on the bridge at the time of the attack. The soldiers were attempting to lift or push an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) when Russian bombs fell. Somehow, at least one of them managed to survive the bombardment, although ended up with injuries. It's not clear whether the figure initially running away from the smoke is the same one that is seen later.

The drone operator attempts to shrug off the intruder by running rings with his vehicle. To no avail. To the rescue of the UGV comes a Ukrainian quadcopter equipped with a rope and hook. Through surgically-precise maneuvring with the attached equipement, the Russian FPV drone is picked up and safely disposed away from the ground vehicle, allowing it to continue its operations.

The operator spotted the approaching FPV drone in his rear view camera and was able to successfully perform a left turn in the last moment to put the UGV out of the FPV drone's attack angle.
