But that means what Hamas did was within their rights of self defense. See, I'm afraid you don't really understand what you're saying. Words have a universal meaning, and if they mean something for one group they mean the same for the other..

INT LAW RULES IF WAR: 'Proportionality' does NOT mean that the defensive force has to be EQUAL to the attack. It means DEFENDANTS can use force proportionate to the 'DEFENSIVE OBJECTIVE' ie to STOP, REPEL+PREVENT FURTHER ATTACKS (ON ISRAEL by Hamas-Gaza/Palestine/Others).
