The wildlife rescue & rehabilitation centre is incredible beyond words. You can't miss the special moment when he fed lion cubs, giraffes, and bonded with an orphaned rhino calf ❤️

The law applies to every hunter, handler and landowner. If you plan to hunt with dogs, you need a valid hunting license or permit from your provincial conservation authority for that specific season and species. You also need written permission from the landowner stating exactly where, when and what you may hunt. These rules protect wildlife, prevent animal cruelty and respect property rights. Each province sets its own season dates, species lists and limits on how many dogs you can use. Hunting at night, out of season, or in parks and reserves without special permits is not allowed. Getting it wrong is costly. You could face fines up to R100,000, jail time, and SAPS can confiscate dogs, vehicles and equipment. The Animals Protection Act also makes it an offence to allow dogs to cause unnecessary suffering to any animal. Simple rule: no license and no written landowner permission means no legal hunt. Get your documents in order before the dogs run.

If forests could speak, Anamalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu would tell one of India’s greatest conservation stories. Most people do not fully appreciate the true value of protected areas. We must know the value of sheer abundance of life they sustain. Anamalai Tiger Reserve is India's 28th Tiger Reserve spread in nearly 1,480 sq. km. It shelters an extraordinary diversity of wildlife, including 88 species of mammals, 320 species of birds, 157 species of reptiles, 112 species of amphibians and 146 species of orchids. It is also home to some of the Western Ghats’ most iconic endemic species, including the Nilgiri Tahr, Nilgiri Marten, Nilgiri Langur and Malabar Giant Squirrel, as well as stunning birds such as the Sri Lanka Frogmouth, Palani Laughing Thrush, Malabar Starling, Legge's Hawk Eagle & Great Hornbills. We paid for this signage. We paid for the New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation to determine there are endangered and threatened species here. We paid for the DEC to determine 10 of 11 of the top grassland species of concern in all of NY live here. We paid for all of it. If we break these rules, we get fined or arrested. But if you own a foreign solar corporation, for some reason, none of this applies… including the endangered species nests and projected deaths. This is a vile level of hypocrisy I will not stand for.

My apologies for the language, but people need to understand what’s happening to our wildlife in Jamaica. Protected species are being trapped openly, proudly, and without any fear or respect for the law. Look how these birds are crammed into this cage. If this doesn’t make you angry, I don’t know what will. Please report these activities to NEPA and the JCF immediately. I am calling on the Government to properly support these agencies with the staffing and resources they need to tackle these problems that existed long before the hurricane and continue now. Pam Johnson's family lost their permit, which they paid nearly $50,000 for and was supposed to last for 99 years. They also had to sell their cattle to then pay for that permit. But today, bulldozers are ripping through that same protected land to make way for homes, hotels, and retail stores. Thousands of endangered and protected species rescued in the largest-ever operation against illegal trafficking. Nearly 20,000 live animals, all endangered or protected species, have been seized in a global operation against wildlife and forestry trafficking networks. Operation Thunder 2024, jointly coordinated by INTERPOL Environmental Crime and the World Customs Organization in November-December 2024 brought together police, customs, border control, forestry and wildlife officials from 138 countries and regions, marking the widest participation since the first edition in 2017. Authorities arrested 365 suspects and identified six transnational criminal networks suspected of trafficking animals and plants protected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Such species are illegally trafficked to meet specific market demands, whether for food, perceived medicinal benefits, “luxury” and collector items or as pets and competition animals. The live animals, which included big cats, birds, pangolins, primates and reptiles were rescued in connection with 2,213 seizures made worldwide. Significant seizures include: 🟢 Indonesia: 134 tonnes of timber headed to Asia via ocean freight. 🟢 Kenya: 41 tonnes of exotic timber headed to Asia via ocean freight. 🟢 Nigeria: 4,472 kg of pangolins scales 🟢 Türkiye: 6,500 live songbirds discovered during a vehicle inspection at the Syrian border. 🟢 India: 5,193 live red-eared ornamental slider turtles concealed in passenger suitcases arriving from Malaysia at Chennai Airport. 🟢 Peru: 3,700 protected plants intercepted en route from Ecuador. 🟢 Qatar: Eight rhino horns found in a suspect’s luggage while transiting from Mozambique to Thailand. 🟢 United States: One tonne of sea cucumbers, considered a seafood delicacy, smuggled from Nicaragua. 🟢 Hong Kong, China: 973 kg of dried shark fins originating from Morocco seized at the airport. 🟢 Czech Republic: Eight tigers, aged between two months and two years, discovered in a suspected illegal breeding facility. 🟢 Indonesia: 846 pieces of reticulated python skin, from the world’s longest snake species, concealed on board a ship. 🟢 Australia and the United Kingdom reported seizures of bear bile, often used in traditional medicine. 🟢 More than 300 firearms, vehicles and poaching equipment.
